My statment about using MAX memory was not necessarily directed at memory stability but more to cpu stability. If you run either LinX or IBT at 1024 mb the load time on the cpu is maybe 17-20 seconds. Where as the load time on the cpu when using max memory is 2-4 min and may require more vcore to remain stable.

I'll give it a go, nothing to lose here of course :)
I think updated version of IBT was released lately, too.

OK, WHEA will kind of explain when you double click on it. Mine always shown what cores were throwing them. Here is a link. When you said you did not need any thing else I did not know you had used IBT.

So, are you WHEA free in Event Viewer?

Well my newest 3770K cpu turned out to be a real dog, temperature wise. Even with custom cooling it's way hotter than my other 3770K. I had already lapped the cpu before I installed it, I won't make that mistake again.
Anyway I swapped my "old" 3770K into my new rig and it's running fairly cool for the vcore/OC it's set at, so I'm happy with my custom water cooling. I put the new cpu in my older rig and it still exhibits the high temps thus I know nothing else is at fault. So far it's made in Malay +1, made in Costa Rica -10.

So Boon your Malay chip is better then your Costa Rica chip? My Malay chip cant get 48x stable, old chip needed 1.29v new chip I have tried up to 1.330v and then temp starts going though the roof. It can run 47x at 1.25v - 1.27v.

As far as heat it sucks. Running 8K fft's in Prime 95 gets it high 80's with custom cooling. As far as OC potential, I don't know yet, only had it to 4.5.

Also you want to make sure you have SP1 installed for Win7 to make use of AVX. Which will stress the cpu more then with out.

50 loops of LinX or IBT is way to may times, only max of 20 should be done at MAX memory.

statio: any interesting new stuff in it? :)

                          all:
Was googling around for a possible cooler replacement and came up with this list:

CoolerMaster Hyper 612S - I really like that one, the base looks flat and pure copper
Scythe SCMG-3100 Mugen 3 Rev.B - a huge fooker, but unsure about performance given how the heatsink is designed
                          Scythe SCNJ-3100 Ninja 3 Rev. B - just a humongous fooker
Thermalright HR-02 Macho - nice massive heatsing, nice looks, crappy base

anyone has any experience with either of them?
