Greetings to all members. Is anyone running 10 or 12 core Xeon E5 v2 in their X79 motherboards?
I have GA-X79 UD3 v 1.1 updated to BIOS F20 and I'm trying to run Intel Xeon E5 2697 v2 - 12 cores, 130W TDP. This CPU is not listed in the CPU support list but decided to try it anyway. The system is passing POST with no issues and booting but Windows 7 Pro recognizes only 8 cores (16 logical), although the CPU is properly show as Xeon E5 2697 v2 in Device Manager. I thоught that the OS will show at least 20 cores as Xeon E5 2680 V2 is listed as supported CPU and it is 10 core/20 threads.
Then updated to F21e beta MOD rev3 BIOS but same thing - only 16 CPUs shown in Device Manager.
Now I wonder if there is no microcode in the F20 BIOS for this CPU or it's some motherboard/BIOS architecture limit. I remember years ago some laptops with Core 2 Duo could not run Core 2 Quad CPUs even if they are the same socket, same chipset etc. and eventually if someone was able to boot with C2Q, OS would show only 2 cores.
Searched the forum for any info about 12 core CPU on X79 motherboard but could not find anything. All Gigabyte X79 motherboards does not list 12 core Xeon CPU's but 10 core CPU as the 2680 v2 is listed.
Any info or help will be appreciated.
Edid: everything is OK, task manager shows all PCUs from 0 to 23, also did a quick test render and there are 24 cores.

Hey guys,
I have a Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H motherboard with an i7-4790 non-K CPU. I'm trying to run it @ 4,00 GHz on ALL cores (without changing BCLK), but when I set the multiplier to 40x in UEFI, it drops to 38 for all cores under load. Tried with BIOS F10e, F10c, F9.
I've heard about modded BIOS versions that allow overclocking by enabling MCE - Multi Core Enhancement for non-K CPUs. Does anyone have a modded BIOS that will work with my board?
There's a list of modded files on the first page of this thread and there seems to be a modded BIOS file F8e, but I have no idea if this is what I need.
Any help is appreciated.

Alright, alright. After SOME HOURS i finally found a modded bios with a link that isn't broken.
Now I know the differences between ME Firmware and MEI (or almost).
Can someone help me for now on? Fix me if I'm wrong:
I found the F21-E rev 3 modded bios from @ghostearth
On that bios hes using the 8.1.51.1471 ME FW and its supposed to me update manually after the flash for the MEI Firmware_8.1.52.1496. Right?
Now the Intel INF, what is this?
Also, If I use the UBU tool with the MMTool I don't have to flash after using a usb stick with the Q-FLASH method?
This UBU tool is confusing me.
After the UBU tool I have to shutdown my PC, enter on BIOS and go to "LOAD OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS THEN BACK TO BIOS"?

I have a problem with overclocking one stick of RAM (Samsung M378B1G73DB0-CK0), i can't run it with CAS latency above 13, the motherboard does not to start, even if the memory frequency is set to 1333. I tried different versions of BIOS, like the latest versions of F21f, F21c, and earlier ones. Now, I am using BIOS for overclocking a skaylake from the motherboard GA-Z170-HD3 (with DDR4) F6E. This version is the most stable for my motherboard, than native F5B and F5C.
This problem is the motherboard from gigabytes (= BIOS), because on boards from other manufacturers, this stick of RAM worked on timings 15-15-15.

Hello,
I tried to mod my own bios for Gigabyte X99P-SLi using the latest 25B from the Gigabyte webiste, everything came through as checked by UMU. I must be doing something wrong, do i have to modify the filename perhaps? Need all of the latest microcode updates please!

Is there any modified Bios for EX58 UD3R? Quite old mobo but still need to know best useful one. Now I have Gigabyte Official FK version bios on it but I found modified FK version which includes Meltdown and spectre patches for Westmere microprocessors.

Hi. I have Gigabyte B85 D3H Rev 1.0/1.1 and QDE4 B0 ES CPU 2.8Ghz. It is likely to be 4770K ES (engineering sample).
i have lastest bios F15. CPU won't work and overclock. Can anyone mod bios for it to can overclock?

Hi,
Im (still) rocking a P67A-D3-B3 (rev. 1.0) Mainboard and just got my hands on a i7 3770k.
Since I cannot set the multiplier higher than 39 I wanted to do a bios update.
And also this post in this thread (page 111) here.
Could not flash it and found this post here and thought yes there is a solution.
I found a U1D bios in this post here and thought (first this then modded UA6) but I cannot flash the U1D version either.
At the moment I have the latest bios version for the rev 1 voard (F7).
Can anyone help me to figure out a way to get UEFI on that board so I can overclock my i7 3770k??
