Well i sold my Crucial Ballistix 6400, im now running 2x2gb patriot viper 1066, i did run everest and the read and write seem low for the speed of 1000. I think the board clocks well cpu and ram, but the overall memory performance seems a bit low to me.

Well it's expected, Intel does improve over the years and this a very old chip.

              Re: Little help

Got some new memory, crucial ballistix ddr2 800mgz cas 4 2x2gb, runs at 2.0 volts, the stuff wont overclock worth a crude. I want to run 4gb of ram, i tried patriot viper 1066 ddr2 cas 5 and best i could run was 1000mgz. I have tried messing with the overclock and running different straps, but this board wont run anything but 1:1 with the ram, any other setting and it goes right back to 1:1. I can clock my cpu all day long, but this board is very finicky on ram, when i had my 2x1 crucial ballistix 6400 cas 4 it worked great, but its not 4gb, so should i try 4x1 or stick with 2x2gb, i know 4x1 is harder to overclock right ?

Yes 3x1GB may be even worse than 2x2GB, it usually is.
I am looking at GB MB page and DDR-800 is heir max advertized memory rate, so that probably what you can get.

You sure? Overclocks great for me, way back when I used DDR2 anyway

It even has a profile for 1000Mhz, which I see you've already reached anyway. I was able to get 1140Mhz stable, could have probably done more too if I had the time, check out my review on those

Well i have them running at 1000 mgz 5-5-5, they wont do cas 4 at that speed. Im running 490fsb, 3.4 processor, 1000 mgz ram. I cant get any other strap to run on this board ??? where you able to run other straps ?

                      Re: Little help

Well of course they wont do CAS 4 at 1000Mhz, you'd have to freze them or push 2.3V+ and freeze them to do that.

You can try 2.2-2.3V, but I wouldn't suggest running like that 24/7, maybe just for short benches. I said the same about the other kit you that guy robbed from you, they often died quickly because of the voltages needed to run C4 at 1000Mhz.

2x2GB may not do it, but then again it might I never tried. 2x1GB can do it a whole lot easier, but would still need to be either cold or voltages pushed pretty high.

I used P35 and P45 boards with that kit, those are much better at Overclocking, and yes they have many other straps you can use that do work.

Im at 1000 cas 5 500fsb, i dont think im going to get any better, those other staps just wont run, guess i need to be happy, im pulling 9200mb read on everest , very close to yours in the review, guess i will just run it. I need to see if everything is stable, thanks again.

Maybe have to get me a p45 ud3p

Well they probably do work, just not at 500 FSB

Ya, P45 will be much better if you can snag one on tha cheap!

One more quick question, im running a e6750 it has 4mb L2 cache, if i run a e8300 with 6mb of L2 cache, will i see a performance difference in real world apps ?

You will see performance difference if you will look closely.
I recall the difference between E7200 and e8200 running at the same FSB and CPU clock was 3-5% in favor of the E8200

Well really, he'll see the difference with 8300/8400 because he'll be able to do 4Ghz with one of those CPU's, and it's newer process too so it would be faster anyway at same clocks as you mentioned.

If I were you though, and you were wanting to spend money, I would try to get a P45 board first, then get CPU later
