Re: Gigabyte Latest BIOS
Hi all looking for some help, I am trying to get my corsair dominator GT DDR3 2000 memory working with the x58 Extreme, bios version f8g, everywhere I look says that the qpi/vtt voltage should be set to around 1.6v but for some reason when I try to set the qpi/vtt voltage to anything over 1.455v then the system wont boot. I am using 1500 Watt thermaltake power supply, so I dont think that is an issue. Any ideas anyone??

Re: Gigabyte Latest BIOS
I wonder if anyone can help me. My Gigabyte UD5 motherboard is working very nicely otherwise, but for some reason, often when I need to start up my PC, it doesn't boot succesfully on the first try (power and fans turn on, but nothing happens).
I often need to switch power off and back on from my power supply several times before the PC succesfully boots.
I have d0 stepping processor, and my ud5 bios version is F5. Does anyone know, could this be because of d0 stepping incompatibility with F5 bios, and if this issue has been fixed in newer bios updates?
I have not updated motherboard bios before, so I'd rather not do it. But if it fixes this problem, I would do it.

Flashing is made out to be more risky than it is, probably to make sure people are careful. You CAN brick your board, but the chances of that happening are very rare indeed of you follow the instructions.
Use QFlash from a USB stick (must be formatted FAT32) or from a FAT32 partition on your hard drive. Remember that Legacy USB Support/Legacy USB Storage Detect needs to be enabled in the BIOS to flash from a USB stick. Also in some mobo's/BIOS's you need to have the drive connected before powering on/rebooting to enter QFlash or it's not detected. Not always, but sometimes depending on model.
Fore safety reasons make sure you aren't at risk of loosing power in the middle of a flash. For instance if in certain parts of the US and you get electrical storms, wait until the weather subsides. I have a dodgy kettle that soimetimes trips the main breaker when switched on. As I have others in my household, I remove the kettle lead and take it with me while I flash the BIOS so I don't get an unexpected power off. Happened while flashing an ATI X800GT once and I had to blind flash to get it working again.
Make sure you have the BIOS for your exact model and revision of board and flash away. If you make a mistake and try using the wrong BIOS then QFlash will know and won't let you flash. You'll be fine.Coolermaster CM 690 II advance Case
