Hi there, new to the forum.
My rig is setup as a 3D workstation for modeling and animation/video rendering. Main gfx car for OpenGL and Direct3D work and other two as added cuda rendering gpu's. So I don't use or require SLI.
I added 32 Gig of Corsair CMY32GX3M4A1600C9 and fitted the ram for tri channel config as depicted in the mobo manual. I also tried the dual channel config and had the same result.
The result was it being unable to post past initial bios load which is version FH, when adding two more Transend AXE ram 2200+ 2G sticks to fill all six slot it then posts fine and continues to boot.
Any ideas as to why this is?

I have the stock FH bios and was wondering if I flashed the above quoted bios to update my firmware on the various chipset components would it improve my stability in Windows 8.1 and its drivers that are more optimized toward the firmware version in your modded bios?

Any advice regarding my setup would be greatly appreciated.

X58 boards require system memory using sets of three equal sizes. Such as: 3x 4Gb, and 3x 2Gb placed alternately in slots: 4+2+4+2+4+2=18 Gb (as an example). So: whatever combo is used, the total amount is going to be (should be) evenly divisible by 3.
32 is not evenly divisible by 3, thus your problem.
Do 8Gb sticks work on that board? If so: the maximum would be 6x 8Gb=48Gb; minimum: 3x 1Gb=3Gb.
              These would work:
              3x 1Gb=3Gb
              3x 2Gb=6Gb
              3x 2Gb + 3x 1Gb=9Gb
              3x 2Gb + 3x 2Gb=12Gb
              3x 4Gb=12Gb
              3x 4Gb + 3x 1Gb=15Gb
              etc.

Is it possible to mod the latest beta F6j for the Z97M-D3H?

My board has cold start issues, which are gone as soon as I set PCIE from 3.0 to 2.0 speed.
They also disappear when I set a BCLK lower than 100. But then my system hard reboots eventually after the first cold boot and resets my BIOS settings.
BCLK on Auto brings back the cold start issues.
