@ abctechie: there are numerous PCIe-1x and PCI video cards available, that would replace a normal PCIe-16x video card.
    Cheapest (~$18) on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA4UB1T25480
There may also be some USB->VGA adapters that could (?) serve the same purpose, for what you're trying to do.

@vailr - Thanks and I was thinking on those lines. I was actually thinking about buying a 1x to x16 riser like this. What I am not sure is whether this Gigabyte EP45-UD3R board expects a video card to be plugged in the x16 slot for it to post or just a video card in any slot would suffice?

@ abctechie: any slot should work, whether PCIe-1x, PCI, or possibly even USB->VGA adapter.
May need to re-configure bios to "optimized default settings" prior to switching video cards, however.

Because for the optimal performance and stability it is advised to match the versions of OROMs and drivers of the same development branches.
As the latest V.13.2 drivers (V.13.2.4.1000 WHQL) didn't support Intel Z77 chipset as instead the V.13.1 (V.13.1.0.1058 WHQL) does, i've rolled back the OROMs to the latest version that is officially supported by drivers.
There's one possibility to use the latest OROMs V.13.2.0.2134 and it's if you have a RAID set (HDDs or SSDs), in this case the drivers V.13.2.4.1000 could be installed properly infact on my Gigabyte Z77X-UP5 TH i've a RAID set of 2 SSDs and i've updated the OROMs and drivers of the V.13.2 release and they are working flawlessly.

                        Cheers,

                        KK

You can update the GAZ77X-UD5H F16 with the latest OROMs (Storage/LAN) and CPU Micro-Code using U.B.U. (UEFI BIOS Updater - [Tool] "UEFI BIOS Updater" (UBU)) as you need...

If you don't know U.B.U. and you didn't feel safe using it, i'll prepare a GAZ77X-UD5H F16 with latest updates...

Let me know if you want try to do yourself or i do it for you.
