Re: Time for me to upgrade ??

That's OK it is only available when Vcore is normal.
22 is good, you can have 160bclk x22 which will result in a bit higher freq that you get with turbo, for all cores but turbo will have to be off I think.
That would be a 25% overclock and the Hyper 212+ should be ok with it.

            LOL hold your horses.
You will need to adjust memory multiplier x10, add someDVID and likely more VTT.
It's common to have C1E and EIST off while overclocking, then turn them on when the system proved stable.

Re: Time for me to upgrade ??

hhahahaha..........oops a daisy.............well, here's what i did.......set base clock control to enabled, and set to 160..........then multiplier to 22............ that pushed my memory bclk frequency to 160 automatically (i think i learned something there, lol).....so, had to change my memory multiplier to 10 to get 160 x 10 = 1600mhz memory speed............that part worked fine.........but, when i rebooted, computer reverted back to a cpu multiplier of 21..... and gives me 160 x 21 = 3360, and not 3.52 if the multiplier stayed at 22 like i set it !

btw, i noticed Intel turbo boost was on disabled, i left it alone, although, looks like i can change it to auto or enabled also.

memory timings still on 8-8-8-24, qpi/vtt=1.23, dram=1.66V (although it actually runs at 1.65)

i just ran maxmem, seems like increasing the cpu speed also helped the memory scores there also.

              ok, what now ? ;)

Re: Time for me to upgrade ??

If turbo was off than you never had the CPU at 3.46GHz so 3.36 is improvement.
But I am worried about leaving the Vcore on auto. Set it to normal and DVID +0.025 for a start and see if you can lower it later or if you need more.
The gain in memory performance is due to higher uncore(memory controller, QPI, and others) frequency. the uncore is x18 bclk normally at 2400MHz and now 2880MHz.
Another compomemt that is OCed is QPI, maybe you can lower it closer to original 4800MHz, I don't know what multi options you have.

Check with CPU-Z what vcore is under load.
And BTW what is default vcore?

Looks like BIOS sets vcore over 1.3v on auto, depends on your VID but seems too much.
I hope you ddn't am maxxmem while prime was running.

Re: Time for me to upgrade ??

ok, changed vcore from auto to normal, and dvid to +.025......no problem............looks like default vcore is 1.14

qpi was at 5751 (36x) and i believe set on auto...........so, i changed it to 32x, which lowered qpi to 5121, doesn't look like i can set it to get to 4800 as my choices there are only auto, 32x or 36x.

here are the new readings..........wow, just noticed temps are lower running prime.......well, see for yourself

btw, i really appreciate all you help, time,,,,,,,,,etc. i am learning and having FUN ! lol

Yeah BIOS a bit histeric about vcore LOL, causing insate temps. You may need more but not +0.2 for this OC.
See if you can run IBT or LinX with 4096MB or 6072MB, 3 runs would be enough for now, see what temps and GFlops you get.
<aybe other benchmarks if you have any, CINEBENCH(CPU) and such.

EDIT: IBT temps may be +10 of Prime, watch them.
