btw, cpu pll is on auto......have never touched it........should i ?......options for it are like <normal, auto, or manual setting>
If normal (default) CPU PLL is 1.8 you can try a 1.81/1.82.
BTW you cannot type < it's reserved for html options, instead type < and >(>)

3.96GHz.
After that I think it's time to see how much can the memory be Oced.

The way I have found mine was I jept increasing ram freq. with a know stable CPU freq./settings until i got errors in memset86+, then tried to lower the voltage to see if it can be pushed further. More is not always better, and I found my memory to OC better with 2.0v even though it's EPP(DDR2 euivalent of XMP) is programmed with 2.1v.
Of course the maximum that passed memtest86(~1145) was never stable in windows, but I can tun it stable at 1090 instead it's rated 1066.

If your ram is capable to do DDR-1460/1500 with the 7-7-7-21 timings there's enough room for OC to 4GHz/4.1GHz.

now you're getting somewhere... it seems the cpu is fine at 4g and it was the memory or the memory-controller (imc) acting up before.

yeah, temps are getting near max tolarable, but you could try lowering the multi and get fsb higher (reaching for 20x200 with some luck...) just set it @ 20x with the voltage you are using now and raise fsb in 5mhz steps, if it doesn't work, lower in 2mhz steps back. (adding vcore would be an option if you had some more cooling)

Lower multi and higher FSB would be worse because the uncore freq. is much higher and will need more VTT and will be more difficult to get stable.
Some 400 million transistors that can create a lot of heat.
