  • Re: Time for me to upgrade ??

For now yes but the memory might hold those timings a bit higher freq.
It may do a bit higher than 1600 too but probably not 1800 at the spec timings.
You cna try 9-9-9-27 with 1800 and see how that goes and if it's worth it memory performance wise.

It could be a bit of tweaking, but it's worth trying, some do 200 easy, some never reach, guess board/cpu and luck is involved. Could always try it at 19x if the heat is too much at 20.

I feel it would be nice if he did get to something like 3.8-4.0g & ddr1600 in the end.

Memory is like a box of chocolates you never know what you get.
If there is a high demand to 1600 memory and the company is short of 1600 chips it will sale 1800 binned chicps as 1600 if it has spares. Or the chips were never checked to be higher than 1600 but can still do it.

Scaling timings down work almost always, but not up, cost nothing to try though. Just make sure you run memtest86+ before you attempt to run windows.

I didn't know Forrest Gump was into computers :))..............

re-running cinebench now, cuz it said i was at 3.78ghz, horrors, ! lol........(cpuz still says 3.96 and bios settings haven't changed) must be just a quirk in cinebench

Yes cinebench is not too smart about CPU freq. If I don't use my max multi it show a much higher OC than it realy is.

HT clearly comtribute to about 25% better performance.
