Can you pos ET6 Advanced Voltage tab for those settings? auto always worries me, especially PLL.

Set CPU PLL a bit lower 1.59. Could be that more PLL is all you needed.

              Re: Overclocking E8500 on EP45-DS3

I set CPU PLL tp 1.59. Boot ok, IBT high stress passed. I will run Prime95 and let you know about the results. So can I leave the rest to Auto or? The RAM factory default timings are 5-4-4-15, and now are currently on Bios default, so how should i put them?

                Re: Overclocking E8500 on EP45-DS3

Post a Memset screen-shot using the SPD and ">>" tabs.
With Performance Enhance = Standard and using AUTO for the Standard Timing Controls, you might find that the primary memory timings are set to 5-7-7-24 which will result in lower memory performance.

tRD = 11 is probably too loose with FSB = 422MHz. tRD = 9 or 10 will offer better memory performance with your 2.00D System Memory Multiplier. If stable, the 2.00B multiplier will let you use tRD = 8 or 9 for somewhat better memory performance.

Naturally you will need to repeat your stress/stability tests each time you tweak your memory settings. Timings that are too tight will lead to failed tests.

With your current AUTO memory settings, setting Performance Enhance = Turbo might be stable where some of the memory timings will be set to somewhat tighter values for better memory performance.

My preference is to set and test with manually set values for some of the memory settings.

                  Re: Overclocking E8500 on EP45-DS3

The RAM factory defaults (a.k.a SPD) are 6-6-6-18 for DDR-800 and at DDR-844 probably 6-7-7-19.
Try 5-5-5-18 with tRD 10, then try to lower them after you have 4GHz stable profile.

                      Re: Overclocking E8500 on EP45-DS3

Try VTT 1.24-1.26v, MCH Core 1.24v.
Just for a short test, try PLL 1.61-1.65v.
I suggest run the FFT800 only first because it is very likely to fail, if after a while it doesn't fail run the blend.

                        Re: Overclocking E8500 on EP45-DS3

Try the 6-7-7-19 timings that Chike recommended in post #68.
Use the 2.00D memory multiplier with tRD = 10 for both memory channels.

You might want to lower the dram voltage to 2.00 volts if the looser memory timings still aren't stable.

I never recommended 6-7-7-19 timings, I said that's probably what is set by auto according to APD and the settings posted at post #62.

I used timings 5-5-5-18, with multiplier 2.00D, tRd=10 for both channels and run tests with Prime95 custom FFT=800K:

OK I think it's safe to say it's not the PLL.
Try tweaking the MCH Reference with VTT 1.26v.
Remember to make the changes when it is set to 1.2v then set it to 1.26v again.

                                With VTT=1.26, CPU PLL=1.59, MCH Core=1.24, CPU Ref.=0.798,DRAM Voltage=2.180,timings 5-5-5-18, tRd=10 for both channels.
First I run Prime95 custom test FFT=800K,if passed I run Blend test.
                                MCH Reference
                                -1[0.778V]-After 7hours 30minutes failed on 512K

The best result had -1[0.778V], so I took that and worked with CPU reference:
