    Re: Overclocking E8500 on EP45-DS3

I make it the forst failed on 800k then the other I can't tell.
Lts try to wwork the references, begin with MCH Reference. The reverences are percent of VTT, not to get confused always change them with VTT set to 1.2v. Above or below default may work so need to experiment.
    The procedure as follows:
    Set VTT to 1.2v.
Set reference voltage to desired value.
Restore VTT to it's original value (note that the reference will scale with VTT).

Start with MCH Reference, 1-4 steps below default which is 0.760v, then 1-4 above default if none of those made things better.
It may be that the system will become more stable but not completely stable. In that case repeat the same with CPU Reference with MCH Reference that is most stable.

        With VTT alwayts at 1.2V?
Try to run small FTT see if that work longer.

          Re: Overclocking E8500 on EP45-DS3

Some have stability problems with FSB = 400, try setting FSB = 401 and retest.

There is nothing magical with FSB = 401, it's just that 400 sometimes causes problems.

Did you test with MCH Ref 2, 3, or 4 steps lower than the standard .760 setting as Chike suggested?

Another test option is to switch to the 2.00B memory multiplier and retest if the lower MCH Ref tests all fail.

Yes VTT always at 1.200V. I did test with MCH Ref 2, 3, or 4 steps lower than the standard .760 setting as Chike suggested but my current FSB is 422!

Try what profJim suggested, the 2.00B multiplier.
See if forcing 800K FFT speeds the failure.
Select custom, and set min and max FFT to 800.

                  <s>Have you tried the 2,00B multiplier?</s>
LOL I must stop doing it.
                  Try a higher VTT.

Should I set back the 2.00D multiplier, because for B-multiplier the RAm fsb is 333? Higher VTT then try all the combinations with MCH reference?

No, it's the bus frequency that makes the difference.
Try with VTT 1.22, then a bit more vcore just to make sure it's not it.

Setting the VTT to 1.22 caused boot failure, so I raised Vcore and just passed prime95 custom test with FFT 800K without errors or warnings. Is it normal for screen to flicker during boot? My current Bios settings are:

Try the same the 1.2VTT. The references are tide to VTT so they may need to be changed at different VTT values.
                          Flicker how?

I will try mch reference from 1-4 below default and 1-4 above default, then the same with cpu reference. The only difference will be higher vcore? I restart , bios read ok, but when it starts showing the windows logo the screen flickers twice-once upon showing the logo, and second time just before log on. I will try to film it then upload.

Try just more vcore with the same settings u had before (as you posted).
Then try the same reference procedure with 1.22v VTT and so on. Just remember to make the changes at 1.2v VTT.
also list the values of references for 1.2v VTT (eg. 0.72 @ 1.2 VTT), it's more clear and easy to understand.
For better understand of what they actually do you can read Understanding GTL Reference Voltage.
