  • Re: GIGABYTE Modified Bios

As stated in GB web page..BIOS F8 and above should be flashed with latest efiflash.exe (@BIOS ) included in the zip file.
    GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-Z87X-OC (rev. 1.x)

    My mod don't include efiflash.exe.

                  • Re: GIGABYTE Modified Bios

Well just been testing out F9 bios on my Gigabyte z87 OC board.
and its completely killed my windows 7 x64 os. corrupted something as the os loads slow very slow infact so slow, the hdd seems to be working overtime to try and get the os to load up and it grinds to a halt with my hdd light still on but nothing happening.
so i though i will flick the bios switch and flash back to my old F7g bios, nope that didnt work, even getting into F8 safemode is extremly slow to get into i finally get into it and everything looks normal no driver issues in device manager.
so anyway i msconfig run, and run the os with minimal bootup settings then i rebooted and its still the same SLOW SLOW SLOW, anyway since i needed to format the os, i switched back to F9 Mod1 bios.
and installed the os and everything runs fine apart from 2 issues im having and there pretty big.

                    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Sound issues in games clicking and poping sounds
now i never use to have this issue creative zxr sound card, with the latest drivers installed if you can even call them the latest as creative are fkin bull**** with driver support, this card has not had a new sound driver at all in 2014 :(
the sound glitches only happen in game thats the weird thing, games have the issue.

playing moves and listing to music on the desktop is crystal clear no issues no distortion.

                    ------------------------------------------------------

now my 2nd issue, this has been a issue for me since i got the board
no amount of bios has solved it, and i have had a few cards on this board and they all behave the exact same way when it comes to this issue the only way to fix it is to reboot the system and even then sometimes it does not fix it the other way is to go into the bios and select between auto and gen 3 mode pciexpress link speed

it seems this board does not run all the time at the correct Gen speed like there is a weakness or something as running GPUZ bandwith render test shows this before i even go into a game, if the issue is there the render test will run at like half the cards true speed
like for instance with crossfire R9 295x2. this also happened when i had crossfire 2x 7950s.
one of the cards will operate @99-100% in the test and the other will sit around 50-60%

when the issue is gone i get full speed and both gpus running at 99% ..... this issue i have never ever been able to solve.
as for the sound card issue i had no issues post F7g i wonder if F9 has done something but i cant be sure, getting pretty sick of this board i might upgrade to there Z97 range.

unless anyone has any tips on how to fix this issue.
cant be os as the os is a fresh install and fully windows updated..... with latest graphics card drivers and sound card drivers.

@stasio: Just wondering what the status on Devil's Canyon CPU support for Intel 8 series boards is?
Will the 4690K run on original factory release, or current bios version Z87-UD5H boards? Or would a yet to be released update be required?
                          TIA

Guys......a small update in modded BIOS you can do yourself with latest UEFI BIOS Updater v1.61 .
                                How to do:
                                [Tool] "UEFI BIOS Updater" (UBU)

                                Thanks to SoniX & Fernando.
