It looks like one has the updated ME firmware v9.0.30.1482.

Correct. You could try CPUID's Mem TweakIt v2.02.01 though.

You know you can go back and edit your previous posts, instead of making three separate post?

Well, I changed out my cpu and cooler, F12y bios, working ace, just a simple easy OC using the turbo ratio to 4.5ghz, disappointed with ram latency though very poor.(g1assassin2 x79 modded 12y) what do do with the old cpu , hhmmmm. Oh yeah lol, cpu is 4820k, used to be 3820

Just as a heads up. Use caution with the modded F8b (oc force).

It seemed to work for a few hours and now my PC gets nothing but a blinking cursor.

Have tried barebones, have reset the CMOS, have tried backup bios.

Either uber coincidence or it smoked something on my board.

I get a post image but when I attempt to boot, nada and when I try to enter the bios, same thing.

Worst part is I have yet to use this PC and this weekend I was finally gonna be gaming!

Now courtesy of bs gigabytes rma process I'll be down a month at best. Naturally I now have to remove a naked chip with liquid metal on it which ughgh I'm not even gonna get into that.

Anyhow if anyone has any suggestions.....

Or if anyone has any ideas what part of a board going down would do this anyhow? I know often a bad disk drive will do it but u can still get into bios. I assume this is a straight up bad bios chip now?

Now don't get me wrong, this is necessary in 90% of posts, however with the information I provided, I do not know how knowing what brand or model my hardware is will change.

Still, I shall accommodate. Perhaps I can be humbled :p

Ftr I set up the RMA. Disappointed, disgusted really. I'm sure my chip will end up chipping during reinstall (naked) or static or an unforeseen force will ruin one of my titans while sitting idle. Happens every time. I hate changing boards!

Anyhow, don't want to clutter up your bios thread - just guessing that it is in fact the bios chip that is bad. I'm hoping someone can reply that tried it and is using it for some time: I just don't get it.

                      Aaaaaaanyhow.
                      4770k
                      Z87 oc force
                      32gb corsair dominator platinum 2133
                      2x256gb Samsung Evo (raid)
                      2x2000gb Seagate Barracuda (raid)
                      4x Evga Gtx Titan Sc
                      2x Evga NEX1500

A bit of background. The PC was left running prime and temps were normal, load was normal/no errors and I noticed the problem when stopping it. It was lagging like it would if say your IDE bus was fully saturated, couldn't click on anything but the mouse was fluid. Commands would go thru but waaay later. A restart and it began.

I used the ME modded bios (there were 2) disappointed cause they seemed awesome. But far to scared to try next time :(

Is there any way to mod the f12y g1assassin2 biosto turn on the diabled cores in 4820k cpu?, extreme tuning utility shows all 6 cores and lets you adjust the turbo and stuff, so there must be something real simple somewhere to turn them on.

I doubt it. Attempts at enabling disabled features have never worked on Intel CPUs. Not on a single model, to the best of my knowledge. It started back with the Northwood Pentium 4s where people tried to enable HyperThreading.

THe 3820s for example did not even have extra cores. The 39xx ones were all 8 cores with two of them disabled. There are ways of physically disabling them, for example via laser or one-time writable registers/flashes upon binning...tho I don't know what Intel is doing. But I can tell you it's much more sophisticated than AMD's way of having bridges on the chip and all you need is a piece of conducting rubber. ;)
