Re: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Won't boot or post

Tried the various changes suggested by Wazza and Howard. Still no joy.

CPU is Intel i7 920 sSpec is SLBEJ so I have the D0 stepping so it would seem I need to have F5 bios. Not sure what rev my Mb is and how I might flash it if it I cant start the machine

My RAM is OCZ Gold 240-pin DDR3 SDRAM 1600 (PC3 12800) low voltage

FYI - Here's the rig I am trying to get working Goodest Core i7 Hackintosh Machine | Build Your Own Hackintosh

Re: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Won't boot or post

If you purchased the kit with a credit card then you should be covered for the return of faulty goods at worst you should get your money back or a replacement mobo. I believe there is currently only one revision of the EX58-UD5 mobo and that is revision 1.0 (It is written on the board itself)

Of Course you would rather have a working PC so if on reassembly with a replacement mobo you get the same problems (hopefully not) then as a last resort it might be worthwhile taking the assembled barebones rig (Case, PSU, CPU & Cooler, Mobo and memory) into a place that offers professional support and let them troubleshoot the problem. It may seem like admitting defeat but hey if it gets you a working PC who cares.

If you are going to get the BIOS upgraded then update to the latest F9m
      GA-EX58-UD5 (rev. 1.0) - GIGABYTE - Support&Download - Motherboard - BIOS

I and others have been using it and I have heard no complaints. It will include all the code to support D0 stepping found in versions F5 and F6 plus other updates.

Gopod Luck and post back when you get it working would be interested to know exactly what the problem was

Thanks Howard. Decided to RMA the mobo. Lets see if that helps. Will post the results to let you know if it worked.

          Wirefreedom.
I also had this problem with my p55 ud6. Although i already updated the bios to the latest one.

I still have this infinite reboot without the post screen.

Did the gigabyte tell u the problem? Is it the motherboard? Or due to mem incompability? Btw i used gskill memory.

Re: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Won't boot or post

                @Wazza
It was exactly like wirefreedom infinite boot.. But i already tried ur suggestion. I took off the 8 pin n 24 pin connector to the board. I took the battery n left it for an hour. Then i used one ram stick. It still happening.

So then i reconfigured all of my parts n put it together again. I used one ram only. Then it boot n post normally. Just like u guys suggested, i updated the bios through q flash. N the process went perfectly smooth.

Then I used two rams. N it still runs normal.

After 3 days of normal post. N i can overclocked to stabilized 4ghz. It still runs normally.

Suddenly it happened again. So i have to do those procedure again. Clear cmos, took the power connector, battery n lastly reconfigured all of my rig. Then i got normal post with one ram n after that with two rams.

I guessed it was not due to ram incompability. What is the coz of the infinite post? Im getting bored of reconfiguring the rig whenever i got this problem.

                Thx guys.

Re: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Won't boot or post

i dont know it could be a faulty ram slot ive had that happen and it would hang when trying to boot up or when in windows, try loosening your cpu cooler a little,if it has a backplate and its too tight it will cause reboots just slacken it off hafl a turn on each mounting screw its worth a try

Re: Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 Won't boot or post

Have the same issue. My rigg:

                      Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5
                      Intel Core i7 920 2,66GHz DO stepping
                      Corsair TRX6G1600C9 DDR3 PC12800/1600MHz 3x2GBcv
                      WD Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500 GB SATA-300
                      Scythe Orochi Rev. B
                      Corsair CMPSU-650TX 650W
                      Gigabyte ATI HD4550 512MB PCI-E
                      Antec P183

What I've tried with no luck:

                      Reseated processor/heatsink (cpu looks good)
                      Ram in different slots/combination
Tried my friends ram (Corsair TR3X6G1600C8 3x2GB)
Tested psu in another computer (working)
                      Reset cmos
                      Tried another graphic card
                      Rebuilded computer outside case

No beeps from speaker at startup. Restarts after a second and keeps looping.
My friend has the same motherboardversion (manufacture date just two weeks older) and same i7 (DO stepping) and nearly the same rams. His computer was up and running on the first try. He does have coldboot problems, but it always starts after a few times. The BIOS-version for his mb was F3 out of the box, but he has now upgraded.

Basically the same thing as OP. When I switch it on, it doesn't even get as far as loading the BIOS. I get 6 the leds on the board to light up for less than a second. Fans start spinning then it shuts down. Then it starts up again. Then it shuts down again, etc.

So far I have tried the following so far and each time it still gets stuck in an infinite reboot cycle:

                            1) Removed all connections to the mobo and reconnected
                            2) Removed memory sticks
                            3) Tried new memory in different slots (I also tried 1 memory stick)
                            3) Removed video card (brand new 5850)
                            4) Removed CMOS battery and left it our for a while
                            5) Inspected and reseated the CPU (its a very tigh fit, but others seem to have the same experience)
                            6) Motherboard is out of the case
                            7) clearing the CMS

The only thing I haven't tried is a new PSU (or a new motherboard).

Any other thoughts? Note that I have a GA-P55A-UD4P.
