You only need @bios to flash from FD to Fe5. Once flashed with Fe5 you wont need @bios to flash a newer bios.

Like I said before you only need @bios because the file size from FD to Fe5 is different. If they were the same you could use q-flash. Because they are not the same size you have to use @bios.

You only need to use @bios ONCE. After that you can use Q-flash.

I have said this a couple different times. @bios is only need because the bios file size is different. Old bios size is 1024kb new bios is 2048kb. Q-flash does not like this change.

Just use @bios to flash Fe5. When FE or Ff1 comes out you can use q-flash.

                  I would say Fe5.

Here is the list of bios's available.

                  GA-X58A-UD5 (2.0) - FD1
                  GA-X58A-UD5 (2.0) - FD3
                  GA-X58A-UD5 (2.0) - FE2 -AHCI error
                  GA-X58A-UD5 (2.0) - FE5
                  GA-X58A-UD5 (2.0) - FE7
                  GA-X58A-UD5 (2.0) - FF1

Gigabyte only has Fe5 on their website has they had problems with Fe7 and FF1. If you have Fe5 or FE flashed, You can use q-flash to flash Fe7 or FF1.

You can try FF1 out if you like. You can use q-flash to flash FF1 or to flash back to Fe5. I Have tried it once or twice. I am currently not using it. I would suggest staying at Fe5 until gigabyte re-releases the bios update.

Hi, I must say that I should have read more about this before I flashed my P67A-UD4-B3 bio from F3 to F4. I used Q-flash, and did not go through all the process illustrated on page 1 regarding the following steps:

"Once you have flashed and rebooted back into the BIOS choose Load Optimized defaults and save and apply. This is a required step for the flash process to complete, and for the new BIOS to be properly loaded into the chip.

Then reboot Back into the BIOS again before you go into windows. You will need to set your hard drive settings again in the Advanced BIOS page. MOST IMPORTANTLY do not try to load Windows if you are using a RAID setup without setting these disk settings again or you will corrupt your RAID Array.

Please do not skip the above steps and try to load windows, this is for anyone who is reading this who is using RAID, which alot of us do.

These are the steps needed using the
                        Intel
Controller to assure your Array will not be lost post flash. PM if image is missing"

I was wondering if there is anything I can do to redo those steps. I am not sure and don't understand what it means by corrupt RAID array, and what kind of problem it will create. The computer runs fine in general with occasional freeze in game that will force restart. I read in the event log regarding the freeze, it says can't find file for power management etc etc. Please assist.

                        Thank you very much.

Just re flash the bios again as you did. This time follow the correct steps. When in q-flash make sure you change cheek dmi pool data from enabled to disabled.

If you are using AHCI mode or raid when you installed windows you need to reset then before booting as the default mode is IDE. This is for SATA drives.

Also once you have successfully flashed the bios and are in windows for the first time. Restart the computer at start up hold down "ALT" key + "F12" key this will flash the back up with the main bios so both are up to date and match. Having them not match can have stability or boot issues.

Dumb question, but how do I know what mode my hard disk is running on? Also, for the Alt + F12 thing, do I do it the way I do it when I try to boot in safe mode, like press F8 before windows load? or do I do it right away at the very beginning?

Using AHCI or Raid is something you would have set in the bios your self. If you did not make this change the defualts is IDE mode. Look under Integrated Peripherals. Once windows is installed you cant changes this setting with out getting a bsod unless you make changes the registry when you can google or search hear for.

Alt +f12 at start up when you hear the start up beep if you have a system speaker attached to the motherboard.
