you really arent making much sence.
AA is AA whether its enabled in game or in control panel. its the same with AF.
fc has af levels 1, 2,4 in the cp its 2,4,8, 16. get my point?

      thanks for explainin that.

all i can think is that far cry supports 1x 2x and 4x AF while the computer can support 2x, 4x, 8x and 16x AF.
i dont know though as i never use AA or AF and dont own far cry

with the ingame /r_displayinfo 1 thing i get around 30 fps on high. the problem is i keep getting micro stutters, even 40fps sometimes doesnt look smooth, it's unplayable. even on medium i get a stutter when doing someething like firing for the first time.

I can get good framerates in Far Cry with a P4 Northwood 2GHz, 512 MB of PC2100 RAM, and a Radeon 9200SE. That's at low-medium settings, with some AF on, too. I sincerely doubt the lack of a gigabyte of RAM has anything to do with it.

RAM isn't the issue here. 512mb of RAM is plently for smooth gameplay with Eaglee's system on any game out right now

I noticed a little better playability with Far Cry when I tweaked my RAM a bit.
It seemed to add some smoothness to everything. And I've got just a Radeon 9600XT too with an XP2000+ CPU.

Ran tighter memory timings. With decent memory, you should be able to run lower timings in most cases, but that's something that depends on the motherboard. I'm not sure about prebuilts from Dell and HP, but most motherboards out there have some sort of memory tweaks you can play with.

There's no need to bump here at TweakTown

anyway, i can't believe no one has suggested patching the game...

also, the 1.2 patch (and sdk) is due very soon
