Thanks. I sought out and downloaded the ETU from Intel, based on your recommendation. I tried it out and saw the Adaptive Voltages. But I uninstalled it because I was having troubles with the MB's BIOS after trying to get Turbo Boost to push my rig up to 4.7 GHz.

I had to go over and over to repair the settings. It seems as if I need to reboot to Windows before any new settings stick. Weird. I can't just make a change, reboot to BIOS, and make the next change.

I do one change per boot because I was having the BIOS freeze on me if I made too many changes all at once.

Seems to be OK at 4.7GHz now. So I'll reinstall the Intel. That is one very good piece of software. Thanks for drawing it to our attention.

      Btw,out of this thread........

Seems upcoming 4960X coming with soldering IHS:

I swear im going to put my fist through my mobo soon!!

Im not sure the problems im having with getting my system stable when video encoding is to do with my CPU or voltage used, i think it might be the memory causing problems. Im having to use a vcore of 1.310v for 4.7Ghz OC and thats still not enough to make the system stable for video encoding (still BSOD). Before i even noticed that i had a problem with stability and video encoding my system was stable at 4,7Ghz at just 1.260 vcore with OCCT and ADIA64!!! for over 3 hours.

I have just this moment, changed the multiplier for my memory from x16 (1600mhz) down to x13 (1333mhz) and loosened the timings from 8,8,8,24 to 9,9,9,24 and lowered the vcore from 1.310v back down to 1.260v, and was able to achieve 15 minute in video encoding before the system BSOD!!!, I initially tried 1.260 vcore without altering my memory settings and as soon as i started the video encoding the system BSOD!!... so this would point to the memory.

What does video encoding stressing out the system more that what OCCT and ADIA64 would/did, as i have said i was able to have much lower vcore when stressing with those 2 programs for 3 and half hours, but then noticed i got a BSOD when i did my first video encoding, and now for 4.7Ghz it would appear i need more that 1.310v where before it happyly passed 3 and half hours with ADIA64 on 1.260 vcore. Just seems ridiculous, what can i use to make sure this memory is up to the task at just running stock speeds, i dont want to OC the memory at all i just want it stable and it would appear atm its the memory causing BSOD with video encoding!??

do those stress programs stress all the cores/threads? as video encoding will

run memtest in dos mode on your memory just to rule out any errors/faulty ram?

use memtest86 either on a bootable usb stick or bootable cd

If you are using beta bios on UD5H switch to F6j and delete the rest, they are known to cause video issues. What exactly I can't say but Gigabyte has pulled all beta's except F6j.

Yeah the stress program do stress all cores according to coretemp. I ran memtest 5.0 on a usb bootable stick in dos, and ran for 2hrs with no errors what so ever....so can i rule out the ram?? I am also using the latest BIOS from Gigabyte F6j

Maybe its RipBot program itself thats causing issues, ill try MeGUI instead but i dont see how it could be RipBot. Just seems crazy how much more vcore i need to make what would have appear to be a stable system to get video encoding stable

I don't think its ram youd see errors in memtest if it was

you could pull 8gb out and test with just 8gb for stability see if it affects anything

still could be early bios issue idk

Well i just tried MEGUI encoder instead of RipBot and it doesnt appear to but hardly as much stress on the CPU as Ripbit does and it still BSOD within 2 minutes.....

its hardly putting any load on the cores at all, and the voltage isnt maxed out either, as you can see here on my stable 4.6 OC is very low, but when i just tried it on my 4.7 OC just before it BSOD within minutes. something is defiantly wrong here!?

Spent the day testing, etc. 4770k @4.7GHz, normal+0.22v is stable for a 20-rep LinX run, and an hour of AIDA64. Hottest core on LinX was 91c, 73c on AIDA64. No complaints, and it should be OK for daily use, since I don't do video encoding.

It will boot at 4.8GHz, with Vcore = normal+0.3v. I tried booting at 4.9GHz, but when Windows arrived the system was at 4.8GHz. Even with fixed 1.35v, it only came up to 4.8GHz. I had XTU previously and uninstalled it. I reinstalled it, rebooted, then uninstalled it with the Delete Profiles option checked. I could still get no higher than 4.8GHz. You would think 4.9GHz would crash it, but I got 4.8GHz. I even tried 5.0GHz and ended up with 4.8GHz.

I have a GA-Z87X-UD4H with f5 BIOS. I ran my stability tests at 4.7GHz after trying for 4.9, 5.0, so the BIOS is not stuck at 4.8. Is there something else I should do? I'd like to at least to try a higher OC and fail to boot. As it is, I don't know if this CPU will go to 5GHz, however briefly.
