I think that the Samsung Green memory is made from magic mushrooms.
As good as it is, I can't see paying $100+ for 8GB of ram when I want to install at least 16GB and possibly 32GB if I can find a hack that will let my win7 x64 Home Premium run with 32GB. Hopefully Samsung will see the light and issue 8GB, 16GB and 32GB memory kits in mass quantities so that the price comes down to a competitive level. If I can run with a 16GB ram disk and 16GB for the O/S, I'll be a happy camper. I would reluctantly consider installing win8 x64 once I know for sure that there won't be any driver issues.

Would I risk destroying a $350 cpu by de-lidding it and using the magical mystery oil that you used, well.....uh....let me see....OK, my anser is a definite, possible maybe. Going with a 4770K cpu, I really think that 4.2 to 4.6GHz with reasonable temperatures will be good enough for me. I'm going to wait until late summer or early fall before I build my Haswell system, where the bios will mature a bit and I can see how well others are doing. If I had deep pockets where money is no object, I'd buy right now and live on the bleeding edge.

I could do 4.6ghz with my ivy so id expect around the same for haswell,if you delidded though you would clock higher depending on how much voltage needed ect

I'd be happy with a nice Ivy Bridge system but I refuse to deal with non-Intel sata3 and usb 3.0 port problems.

I'm with Arlo -I mean ProfJim- Would be nice if Samsung would give us some more magic RAM at good prices. Maybe even with a pretty heatsink?

And so all the headlines keep exploding about "MAJOR" USB 3.0 problems. pfffft! There are no major problems. Unless you consider possibly having to reopen a file on an attached USB 3.0 device a major problem!

Right now I'm 80% sure I'm going with a UD5H board again. The new BIOS looks good and I don't see any big surprises lurking. I've already bought some sleeve that I think might coincidentally match the board and I'm looking to redo some of my sleeving anyway.

If overheating is a problem again, I'll just delid again. It's easy, simple, and fast if you know what you are doing.

So far, for mini ITX platform, only Asrock made a change to its cpu socket to leave a good room for bigger cooler. That came with an 8pin being in the middle of the board. Im eyeing this board for future and first miniITX build.

Did they keep the CIR header?
The only Asrock board I have, I bought because of the CIR header. Works good in my HTPC and my Logitech remote.
Wish more manufacturers would put CIR headers on their mini boards.

Sorry for late reply. Honestly I didn't knew what's CIR header is until you mentioned it. Anandtech has a picture of it and I'm just guessing there're four row on pins near the supposed USB headers like the one on z77e ITX but it's not labelled CIR. Asrock official site too doesn't list it in its z87 spec.

Yeah people usually plug it into a front USB 2.0 port, then the Asrock transmitter plugs into that port and you can use a remote to turn on the pc and run programs and MCE.
Pretty handy for an HTPC.

Yep, hopefully delidding will not be any harder than IB. I'll wait until someone else does it first just in case Intel did something different.
