At bootup when the display shows the AHCI rom scanning for devices, it should say v1.20 or v1.20E. If so then the current bios is just fine for you.

Edit - Please confirm which AHCI rom is in your current bios. It may be a older one as I remember another user was trying to update the one is the EP45-DS4. I had some issues doing the mod, but I believe LSD was able to successfully do the mod.

      Hi Acebmxer,

I rebooted my machine and saw this.

Serial ATA AHCI BIOS, version iSrc 1.07.00042006 Copyright (c) 2003-2006 Intel Corporation 23
** This version supports only Hard Disk and CDROM drives **
Please wait. This will take few seconds.
Is my AHCI rom version 1.07? Think my BIOS is F9 instead of F10b. Can I use the rom from this post which was mentioned created by you.

that version of the ahci rom is for P67 chipset.

Can you try and flash F10b and see if that one does not already have the newer AHCI rom?

I've just updated my EP45-DS3 motherboard with the F10e bios found here. Now I see AHCI version is 1.20 and it's the BIOS boot up is much faster. The flash wiped out my overclock settings though, now will have to set it back.

          Thanks for your help!

Ok before you reset your overclock settings. Try this bios out.

            EP45-DS3 Bios F10e MOD

            Updated with...
            Intel Raid Rom 11.5.0.1582
            Jmicron Rom 10725
            Realtec Rom 2.44
            EP45DS3_Mod_8_27_12_f10e.rar

I could not update the jmicron rom and realtec rom to the latest version after I updated the intel raid rom as there was not enough room in bios. But these are newer then F10e stock bios.

Acebmxer, I'm already using this f10e which I downloaded from here. Are you saying the one which you've just created contain newer roms? How can I check the revision.

I would like definitely like to try it out if it contain the newer rom but on a safe side, it'll not damage the motherboard as this is my main computer.

              • Re: GIGABYTE Modified Bios

The bios I just posted I modified to include a updated Intel Raid rom. It still has the 1.20e AHCI rom. The Realtek rom is for the network / boot, the Jmicron is for the other sata ports again is for raid. So unless you are running raid or doing network boots you should be fine on the stock version of the bios.

The way for the end user to see which version of roms they are using, is to Enable "raid" or "network Boot" and then doing boot just like the ahci rom it should display their current version.

Question: do you verify that updates are actually taking place?
For example: is the "Intel RAID ROM 11.5.0.1582" in this F14 version bios actually a newer version than the one being replaced.
If you could provide a short description of the old vs. new ROM versions for these modded bioses, that would be great.
                        Anyway, that's my suggestion.
                        Thanks.

The original raid rom that came with F14 was 11.1.1413. I did extract the current roms and verify which versions that Gigabyte used and updated the ones that were not newer.

There were 1 maybe 2 roms that I did not have to updated. 1 was the VGA Rom which was updated in previous bios. I dont remember which other one was already updated.

                            Hiya,
You appear to be the goto person for Gigabyte modded BIOSes :P
I'm looking for a BIOS modded for the GA-EP35-DS3L with updated RAID roms please.
I know the system is elderly, but I've just acquired this with the intention of using as a server board, only to find Grub totally disagrees with the IDE controller.

Not sure exactly which IDE controller it's running- I thought it was going to be a Jmicron jobbie (No integrated IDE on P35??), but I can't find a jmicron ROM in the BIOS, else I'd have had a go myself.
I believe the board to be a V1.0, but this is the latest BIOS AFAIK (I've flashed it, so I'm certain it works)-

                            Cheers
