If that fails, I'd next try (MANY TIMES) the PSU switch trick. That needs to be attempted many times by new users if they've never done it before, a few tried is not enough unless you already know how to time it right. I mean I know, and often it takes me a few tries, so it's just something you have to try many many times when your new to it before you can give in a say it doesn't work. Just be sure you explain that to him best you can, don't let him give up after only a few tries.

Third and last would be MAIN BIOS Short (You know, be sure it's MAIN). Short pins 5+6 and hold it, start the board and let it reboot cycle a few times or until you see the Logo and post screen start to come up. Once you see something on screen release the short and quickly enter BIOS or Qflash (Directly or from BIOS via F8) and update the BIOS via USB that you already have plugged in and ready with a regular non-modified BIOS. 4+7 short will also work, but 5+6 seems to be faster and easier to do without causing damage. He does not need to solder, just short with insulated metal (Paper clip, needle tweezers, ect) Be SURE you do not short 4+8 if trying the 4+7 method, it'll blow a trace instantly (Vcc+Ground). 5+6 is simple and the pins are right next to each other too which is what makes it so easy. Be sure to show him a diagram of the chips and explain which pins are which, if you need the PDF showing that you can get it Here from my mediafire

He may just need to fully clear out the CMOS, please insist that he try that for at least 8 hours (Preferably longer if he can) if a quick clear does not help, and be sure it's with no power, battery, ect. Not sure if he tried that yet, so just want to reiterate that should be first, short and long attempt, as it may just fix it up.

Try the few things LSD has suggested. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

I have resolved the problem doing as described in section "Detailed problem" of this page. Now I have the orginal F9 bios but during the weekend I will try to flash with the one you made but this time I will use bios Q-flash.

Glad to hear you got it working again. If you did not use q-flash to flash it the first time how did you do so? I only recommend using q-flash unless you did it in dos. Please do not use @bios.

If you flash again and same thing happens let me know and I can try to do the mod again another way.

Some more info about Marvell 2.2.0.1125b...

The b version contains all files required so you can rebuild modules.

Here : Asus Rampage III Extreme 1601_S01 ZioMod + OROM modules
User ZioGTS has rebuilt Marvell BIOS+Firmware+Bootloader and integrated them into his modBIOS.
Using these modules the controller appears as 9123 but seems to work fine even in RAID.
The Image Creator folder in the archive only includes 9123B.bin which is the Option ROM (see config.txt, in other words it means that the driver package is supposedly compatible with all 91xx).

I have flashed it today and the same result - no boot. The procedure to restore backup bios was as described earlier. Now I am almost sure that this is caused by this modified bios. You should remove it from this thread and perhaps write a warning for those who has already downloaded it. Now I have flashed bios with F10e from the beta bios thread and it seems working good. If there will be no problem I will stay with it.

It has already been done, with the F11G, look on the first page, under the X79, it already has been modded to the enterprise rom 2101.

You should be all set, your BIOS is only at F10 with gig, so the F11 is already modded.

The 2101, is the newest rom, there are no newer versions available.

                          Hello,

Quick question. When upgrading from a 9/10-version Intel B. I. O. S., should it be matched with a new RST driver? How are they paired? I have an EX58-EXTREME with F13S that was just flashed to F13U-Modded. Should my v10.8 RST move to the 7-series 11.x RAID?

It could be helpful if matching drivers are listed in O. P.

                          Thank you,

                          Silekonn

As for drivers I always recommend using the latest available drivers. The latest drivers that I know about are 11.5.
