Yeah I did run is as an admin, I will flash the bios back to something older and see if that fixes the problem.

I tried it again with flash and this came up:

So i checked if it had worked with meinfo and saw this:

so i guess that the flash has worked.

So then i entered the bios again and the BLCK is still greyed out

I don't have problem with bios F20a mod 3. We have the same board and processor.

Try to flash your bios with the latest F20a mod 4

Yeah sorry this is with f20a mod 4 now, I updated the bios and flashed the MEI version again. I heard the reason for greyed out BLCK is the MEI version, so I have been trying to update it today. The BLCK works with mod 3.

Flashback with F20a mod 3. The only difference with mod 3 and mod 4 is with mod 3 you have ME Firmware 8.1.30.1350 and with mod 4 you have ME Firmware 8.1.40.1416

@ virtualfred and whom else it might concern:

I messed around with ME 8.1.40.1416 on my X79-UD5 today. I got it flashed, rebooted to verify the version number. All neat and working. Changed to secondary (blue) BIOS, did the same. Flashed, rebooted, verified version. All fine...okay, so I went back tot he main BIOS.

And then hell broke lose. Power cycle on main BIOS. Then dead with power on. Same again after powering down. No BIOS screen. I could revive it by clearing CMOS via button. Loaded optimized defaults... BIOS dead again. I wound up emergency-reflashing from the secondary BIOS and all was fine again on the primary. Optimized defaults worked, overclocking works.

                          Was that one freak occurence?

I know that not all MEs are flashing on X79...how about any 9.x versions on X79, any experiences?

I flashed also with virtu modded BIOS (with MEI 8.1.40.1416) and for me so far OK.
