Anyone here know if Kingston 2333Mhz Ram will work on a X58A-UD5? v1.0

I am looking at getting faster ram... Kingstons KHX2333C9D3T1FK3/3GX 2333Mhz ram to be specific..

Im running a V1.0 GA-X58A-UD5.

It's not on their memory support list, but I know that's not 100% either as my Patriots are not on that list either but they work. I am just wondering is anyone here has run them before.

It's not only a matter of compatibility, you also need to take into account what the rest of the system will require to run this stuff. What CPU do you have? If you are running a 920, 930, or 950, your uncore must be 2x the memory. No matter what Bclk you use, to get your memory to 2333 Mhz you are looking at well over 4500 Mhz uncore which would take ridiculously high, unsafe QPI volts even if it did work. An i7 980X Gulftown only needs 1.5x uncore, so your chances would be better, but I still think it would be a waste of money.

Ya, I'm running an i7-920,D0.. but at the moment I am running some crappy 6GB-1600mhz patriot memory that has never reached 1600.... and lord have I tried... best ever is 1528Mhz... so I can get a that kingston kit for $100 and with it I could find out what my systems true potential max is and then from that I'd sell that kit and my patriots to get a 6GB kit with near that setup.

for another $40 I can get a kingston or gskill 6GB-2000Mhz kit, timmings I think on those are 9-9-9-27 i believe... has to be better than my patriots...

but that was the reason for the 2333mhz memory.

faster memory is only going to require higher bclk or memory multi + higher uncore which will require higher qpi/vtt voltage. In real world 1600-1800 is all you need. try running tighter timings.

I can say for sure that kingston ram is compatible or not i dont see why not... I dont know.

I'm in agreement with the other people who've posted. 2333MHz RAM will be apain in the neck. Too much QPI voltage needed i most cases, plus all of the other issues mentioned, combined with next to zero real world performance compared to your current RAM.

If you really do want to change though, I can strongly recommend a set of Mushkin. Personally I'd go for 1866MHz or maybe 2000MHz. Both are available with decent timings too. You could also pick up some Mushkin 1600MHz with 6-7-6-24 timings and clock them to 1866 or maybe even 2000MHz with CAS8 timings. You can then ebay your old sticks, which may well work at rated speed on another board just fine.

I also have DDR3 1600 and wanted to run at 200x20 so my memory would be exactly 1600. But with two different i7's I could not get it stabilized. Then I read about the even multiplier problem, and started working on 191x21, then my current 211x19. To be honest, at 191x21 with RAM at 1528, 7-7-7-22 vs. 211x19 with RAM at 1688, 8-8-8-24, there is no discernible difference in everyday use.

Anyway, you should post your system specs and a BIOS template of your settings. You stated that the best you could get was 1528 Mhz, so your Bclk is 191. I am assuming that you are at 191x21 to obtain 4 Ghz on your 920. You likely tried 200x20 and had the same problem I did. Did you try 211x19? You might be surprised that your RAM can do it.

Yes that's right, with the 191x21 for a 24/7 stable... I did reach 220x20 once, but had to bump my ratio down to 6, and the system was stable just long enough for a bench but was not at all stable for 24/7. I have spent a lot of time just trying to get to 1600Mhz, that I don't even want to bother trying anymore.

I'll get a Kingston 6GB-2000Mhz Kit... instead of their 3GB-2333Mhz kit and sell my patriots....found a lot of posts of people running well on this 2000Mhz 6GB kit and 1 person at Xtremesystems got this kit up to 2400Mhz so If I can get above 1800Mhz I will be happy.

I'll be most likely posting shortly about help on getting to 1800Mhz+... I have only ever goten other systems to 1600Mhz... Never tried for Higher... as the people I was helping didn't want to overclock their systems higher... So i'm sure I will need some help.

200x21 would be easier to stabilize than 200x20, did you guys try that at all?

buying the 2000Mhz kit would be more ideal than paying for the 2333Mhz kit, unless they are the same price or you plan to upgrade motherboards anytime soon.

You may or may not be able to run 2000Mhz either, it all depends on your CPU and what voltages you are willing to run.

1600-1900 will be easy to do with a 920 CPU, above that is where things will get tricky for your CPU.
