If you start to get 0x00000124 BSOD Screens that means you need to set a little more QPI/Vtt

Nice to hear all went well with your flash!

Not sure of the differences on board revisions, it may just be ON/Off charge official support added as I see they have been adding this to a few models now as well as re-designed power phases.

Did you compare the revisions on Gigabyte's site to see if you could notice any differences?

Here is the picture with the two revisions differences. Version 2 is to the right. If anyone knows about what are these two extra transistors for, please post here.

Those are probably just for added power delivery to the rear USB ports, for things such as ON/Off charge for Ipods, ect.

Hi there,

Although I changed the voltage and the windows works fine now, it is not stable.
I turned it on for one night and it rebooted when I was sleeping.
I ran the everest stability test and it can not carry for 20+ min.

So I search on the internet and found that:

f you want to use this DDR3-1600 memory with Intel's i5 you will be unable to expand past 4 gigs. According to Intel's spec definition, X.M.P. DIMMS and DDR3-1600 are supported for one DIMM per channel, which means forget about adding an additional pair of RAM sticks. 

A call to Intel's tech support verified this. They recommend that if you want to use more than two sticks of RAM with the i5 that you use DDR3-1333.

So that's maybe the reason why we cannot use the corsair 1600 4x2G for the machine. I checked your website and found you guys didn't check the compatibility for memory more than 4G for i5s.

Thus I took out a pair of the memory and the system works fine under stability test for 1+ hour now.

Any suggestion? Except asking me change to 1333 or take out 1 pair of my memory? :)

well the thing is I used the optimized default and only higher the voltage for RAM and QPI (1.64 and 1.31), and it cannot carry for 20 mins.

However after changing to 2Gx2, I could turn on the XMP without changing anything (no voltage changed, kept default voltage for RAM and QPI)

I'm now testing another pair and try to see if it is because this pair is "not that compatible" with the board. The other pair has been tested via stability test for 2+ hours without rebooting.

Well you could downclock the memory you have, instead of buying slower memory. Just use a memory multi that is slower than 1600Mhz if you think that is the issue.

The problems have changed depending on the day and what settings I have tried out but they have mainly been:

• Windows 7 restarting sporadically. Sometimes even before Windows have started or in BIOS mode but that was rare.

• Unable to install Windows 7. Restarted during installation or got error during extraction phase.

Well since my RAM is still in 15 "return warranty" days, I exchanged the Corsair XMS3 with 8 Gig G.Skill ECO RAMs. They are on the compatibility list and have better timing (7-8-7-24). 3 days since I exchanged to them and never ever have experienced any reboot or shut down.

I didn't add voltage, and amazingly, this rams could run on 1600MHz by only 1.35V (XMP mode). No more voltage changes on QPI/PCH/advance CPU functions.

I read a lot info about this board and related rams (OCZ, Mushkin, Corsair), and all people got their machines right after they changed RAMs. From what I read, G.Skill got the best stability.

If you still got a chance to change your rams and you still experiencing rebooting, try change your RAM to those on the compatible list. You will be good, trust me.

These boards are new, they will of course add more memory compatibility in future BIOSes.
