  • EX58-UD4P, 2 Questions!

These questions are for those who have recently purchased a EX58-UD4P motherboard.

1 - Where did you buy it and what version of BIOS did your motherboard come with from the retailer.
I want to get a D0 step i7 920 and this motherboard and I don't want to run into BIOS revision problems!

2 - A recent review here on TweakTown for this motherboard says that it doesn't have any eSATA support. It's my understanding that this board comes with and adapter for two eSATA devices. Who's right?

Edit Update: May 16, 2009 10:55 am Local,

I asked this question in another forum and the response I received from someone who asked GIGABYTE this was:

If you purchased a current inventory retail boxed GA-EX58 series model motherboard, the BIOS should already be updated for the D0 stepping processor. If not, you will need to use the older C0 stepping processor to boot and update the processor before installing the D0 stepping.

So you can see my confusion!

      Re: EX58-UD4P, 2 Questions!

I heard that all mobos will boot with a D0, but a BIOS update is needed for it to fully recognize it.

Haven't heard anyone having issues with D0 stepping and the UD4P, and I definitely have eSATA.

Sorry about slow response, been out of town on vacation :)

I have my eSATA ports connected to the white ports, which are controlled by the Gigabyte GBB36X controller. When I first connected my eSATA hard drive, it did not work.

To get it to work, first I had to enable AHCI mode in the BIOS for the Gigabyte RAID Chip and then install the Gigabyte RAID drivers in Windows, which are available from the Gigabyte website (Make sure you get the ones for your operating system).

My eSATA drive is properly recognized as a removable device now.

I'm also running Vista64 also, so it should work the same for you.
