I am currently Prime (Blend) testing 500x9 for a change.

My VID is pretty poor @ 1.2750V so will be adding a 2nd Noctua to the cooler tomorrow hopefully to keep the temps down...

Wait you are hitting 4.5Ghz with only a 1.2750 Vcore?!??!!?

So anyone have guidelines on how much MCH Core is really too much? or are we already way past that lol
MCH Core that is too high for a given setting will fail to boot or cause instability. Intel's max spec is 1.21 volts for MCH Core. Lsdme links to the 4 Series Chipset Datasheet in this post (319970.pdf - chapter 14, page 553). Generally, you shouldn't need more than 1.36 volts.

WOW... confusing... It says 1.21 with respect to Vss is the MAX. What does with respect to Vss mean? Lsdmeasap thinks he hit 545 with 1.32.. so I must be doing something wrong to have to use 1.36 to get a stable 520. What is Vss?

              Well!!
If you read all 602 pages you'd know that VSS is a fancy name for the circuit's electrical ground.

Think of tweaking voltages as a coordinated ballet, where everyone has to act together. Additionally, think of the various reference volt settings as party crashers that also must play nice with the other dancers.

There have been many threads where MCH Core voltage was set way too high and VTT (CPU Termination) was set too low.

Post your current bios settings and let's have a look under the hood.

Prime Blend failed after about 4hrs. My vcore is over 1.4v (Will post template tonight) for 500x9, would it be easier to stabilize using x8 if I can get the FSB high enough?

Usually the hgher the FSB, the more Vcore you may need, even for the same speed.

                      Hey Gang,
This is too wild for me not to share immediately. I have a 520FSB going with 1.26 MCH!! It has run a IBT run, 15 minutes of UT3 (the game), and 20 minutes of Prime95 so far... The reason I am so excited is I couldn't even get a POST below 1.32 MCH @ a 520FSB. I followed the link in a reply to my question about max MCH volts and Lsdmeasap suggested to someone to use a 50 CPU and a 150 MCH skew.. I went for more check below... It looks like I had it wrong before.. the MCH skew increases should be for FSB increases and CPU for CPU.. seems obvious, but I saw an article that said the opposite. I'll let you know how my testing goes.

Update... still going!! another monster game of UT3 (30 minutes) no issues (while prime95 ran in the background) few more IBT's woot! 3+ hours!!! ya only 21 to go.. I know, but I am still impressed.

Update #2... Still going strong. 7+ hours.. if this holds I wonder if 550FSB may be possible with 1.28 and a MCH skew of 300.

Update #3... Another monster game of UT3 and two additional hours Prime95 blend and no issues. Now to let it keep going overnight.

Update #4... like 19 hours down!! 5 to go!! threw in a bunch of 25 loop max IBT's and a few more UT3 games. In the past this has always been able to break stuff

So D-and-W you getting your skew on? lol

What are you testing out? I'm about 3 hours from 24 hrs stable. Once I get that I am going for 550FSB with a 1.28 MCH or less. I'll probably have to raise the MCH skew to 300... Well here I go again counting my chickens before they hatch..

                          EDIT...
But.. in my own defense.. I am down to 1 hour 10 minutes!!!

                          EDIT #2...

WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 24 hrs stable as a rock!! It's a keeper.

                            ARGH!!!

I can't nail 550FSB for the life of me.. I can't get a POST for anything above ~525FSB. I think I slammed into my memory's speed limitations. It is DDR2-800 after all. I don't think I ever hit above ~1050 for memory speed.. So I am trying 525FSB. I was so totally going to go for 600FSB too!! I need a 1.00X Multiplier!!

D-and-W where does your memory top out?

Did you try setting Driving Strength to AUTO and not 1066MHz, it got 520 IBT stable for me.

Currently testing 530 (Used 500x9 for 24hrs but not stability tested it)...

You were right. I am at 550FSB right now with auto on ALL Advanced Timing controls for the memory. It's funny my memory speed is WAY faster @ 520FSB. I took a major hit to tRD I'm sure. I tried manualy setting it to 10 (from 9) and it would not POST. So it has to be at least 11 or 12 now.

RightMark @ 520 FSB was saying
Real Ram Bandwidth .. Avg 4324 and Max of 4790
                                with Avg latency of 71.3

                                with a 550FSB..
Real Ram Bandwidth .. Avg 4111 and Max of 4573
                                with Avg latency of 81.23

That and I had to bump MCH to 1.30 to get 550FSB... I'm liking 520 MUCH better @ 1.26 and tighter timings.
