OT: I have to admit that some of the shows are pretty cool, and that even though I've been out of the military for 20 years, I've done a lot of the same stuff that mythbusters have. "You know, have have this body armor sitting around that no one's claimed for 2 years... let's see what it stops?!" -grin- It's also how I destroy all of the old hard drives I've got! -Over here we are having an issue of the absence of logic: about 40% of the population have never been trained in the use of firearms... so people think the movies are real. ...and our politicians, like most, don't let the facts get in the way: in 2011 out of 213,000,000 people we had >350 people killed with civilian copies of military firearms [that means semiautomatic for the US]; We should pass laws that are ineffective because it makes people somehow feel good? Oh boy. Part of out problem is that we have one group of conservatives that include a number of people that don't help out cause, and then we've got a bunch of socialist [who don't want to admit that's what they really are] that also aren't helping anything. Leaving the level headed middle of the road types to not be able to get anything done. Bother.

I got a message from this thread about a Z77-UP5 by arrow0309 and that the RAM he had did not over clock in the board.
I recently picked up a ~$500 set of "CORSAIR DOMINATOR GT 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory Model CMT32GX3M4X1866C9."
Now, these are supposed to be 4 matched sticks for a quad memory configuration. The timings for SPD use were perfectly normal. At XMP profile wasn't outrageous either, in fact it was the same as the 16GB set from Crucial that I pulled out.
Ran MemTest86+ 4.20 for 2 passed at 1866MHz... TONS of errors... Ran it at SPD speeds, STILL got errors... Basically, for whatever reason, the board did not like that RAM. Given that it didn't run properly at 1333MHz, I have to figure it was less about the motherboard and more about the RAM.
I sent it back and got "Crucial Ballistix Tactical 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model BLT4K8G3D1608ET3LX0," (for half the price) and at ANY speed it seems to work without an issue. The XMP profile only goes to 1600MHz, so if you want to do 1866MHz, you need to test... but it runs at 1600Mhz and 1.35v. The second XMP profile are the sames timings at 1.5v. I ran a 48 burn-in test using MemTest86+ 4.20, and didn't have a single issue at 1.35v and 1600MHz. I was able to clock it at 1866MHz and 1.5v, and it worked perfectly fine. I would probably use the DIMM fans on the RAM if it's that important to have it at 1866Mhz. However, I really don't see huge performance increases unless the CPU is running at 4+ GHZ, so I leave it at 1600MHz.
