Z77X-UD3H F19j has got more bugs than an Entomologist's greenhouse.

The latest one i've found is than if OS Type is set to "Win 8" or "Windows 8 WHQL", then randomly my computer will power off by itself. Keyboard and power buttons will remain lit, but i cannot wake or re-power the system.
It has to be unplugged from the wall for a few seconds, then it can be powered on.

Add to this "Fastboot" causes my overclock to disappear.

"Ultrafast" does absolutley nothing.

And at any time any of you BIOS settings can just change back to defaults, and the only way to change them back and get the change saved is the reflash the thing.

Apart from that.... its fine

Ha, maybe I wasn't delusional when I thought the entire thing resetted itself into defaults!

Stasio, please, is there any way for you to check with Gigabyte whether they are still working on BIOS for this particular board? It's been 7 months since last stable release, and Z77 is still the major chipset nowadays, so I don't understand the lack of updates.

That's how they treated to many of us.
Don't put your expectation on them too much. After all, their debug ability is super poor.
I've reported to them many bugs. But they only admitted one of the bugs I've found which is 4pin CPU Fan not able to work!
They even didn't admit the bug existed before I told them I use 4pin Fan because they only tested with 3pin ones.
And see what they've replied to me: They told me they are not able to fix it!! Because it's AMI's problem. (Then how come I can use 4pin CPU Fan after trying to flash with another MB's Bios.)
What the..... joke..

Other bugs are also serious ones, such as: PCIE X1 not working, Fan speed becoming ultra fast sometimes (up to 25XXrpm, normal is 14XXrpm) and unable to install Windows 7/8 in UEFI mode sometimes, etc... But they didn't and won't fix them, because they said their Bios engineers found no such problems on it. Ha!

Just don't buy their MB next time, then no problems.

But their customer service has really good professional ethics. She always call me politely and tell me the same reports from their Bios engineers, which made me believe their Bios engineers won't upadte and are reluctant to fix the Bios anymore. That's what they left, good customer service I guess?!

I don't really know what to make of all these problems, but I am starting to think about alternatives. I will see what sort of board will I receive after my RMA is processed, and decide after that. Maybe wait a month for a miraculous BIOS release. MAYBE. In the worst case I will sell the board for a fragment of its original price, and think Gigabyte can kiss my ass in future.

Unfortunately as with many products and services, the competition is exactly the same.

Z77 is still the up to date top class chipset, my UD5H is not even 6 months old - yet there isn't a single driver from 2013 in the downloads section and Bios is stuck in beta.
They must treat their software engineers very badly in Taiwan for them doing such a poor job.

Unfortunately as with many products and services, the competition is exactly the same.

I have found quirks, irks, itches and annoyances in boards by all manufacturers, regardless of Tier 1 status or not.

I don't find GB to be any worse than the others in this respect, and with GB we have the advantage of this forum and Stasio's contributions... in my case that is what usually tips the scales towards their products.

I was perfectly happy until now... I've been using Gigabyte boards for years, my first one was P35-something, and I basically always had pleasant experiences, and problems were never too severe, or they were fixed reasonably fast. Not so much with Z77 ones, unfortunately. Months is a bit too long for my taste. And honestly I don't give a damn there are new chipset based boards coming, you have to support existing products as well.

Sorry, I'm not to offense and bothering you.
But I think what he said was right.
I had been waiting for Gigabyte to release a valid UEFI BIOS more than a whole year since they said they'll make one for their P67 & Z68 MBs.
During these days I'm glad that stasio modified other P67's UEFI Bios so I could flash it into my poor P67 MB.
I even asked GGTS to proved an UEFI BIOS for my MB. But with the one GGTS gave me, I encountered more issues than the ones I've tried to flashed into my MB.
I would said they do had ability to fix these bugs, but they just don't care this part of service which I can tell from their attitude.

stasio and the customer service are good guys, but the problem is on their policy that stasio and customer service can't change it.

I don't see they try to make their MB's Bios better. All they want is us to buy their newer products.

No offense taken.
I had already deleted my post and we cleared the air via PM.
There has been a lot of criticism of Gigabyte's long delayed bios releases and numerous valid customer complaints about bios bugs in new bios releases.
Your post is perfectly reasonable and states the facts and your experiences in an informative and constructive manner.

It's too bad that motherboard manufacturer's still don't "get it" and don't yet understand how important it is to provide excellent tech support and fast responses to customer problems. Having the best made motherboard is no good if high quality bios updates are not provided in a timely manner.

I would be absolutely ballistic if I had bought a P67 or Z68 motherboard based on the promises from Gigabyte marketing for bios updates for Ivy Bridge features and compatibility.

for my X79-UP4 Gigabyte motherboard I received from Gigabyte GGTS support a F3t Beta Bios that has a different CRC32 and file date than the one available here on this forum thread. I'd like to know what are the differences.
I have been having the random freezing bug under Windows7SP1 with the i7-3930K C2 Stepping CPU (no overclocking). Gigabyte support replied me to upgrade from F2 to F3p Beta but it didn't solve the issue, or better yet it seems that while with F2 it was freezing even 2 or 3 times a day now it freezes once every 36-48 hours regardless of continuous use or reboot and shutdowns. I checked that F3p updated the Intel Management Engine Firmware from version 7.x to an 8.x release but the CPU Microcode didn't get updated.

My system doesn't overheat, the temp ranges between 38C and 44C. The 32GB Corsair Dominator 1600MHz DDR3 RAM passes MemTest86 3.5b for over 24 hours with no errors. Other than the AMD GPU card all the others I was using on my previous Gigabyte GA X38-DS5 Q9650 Quad-Core system for years with no issues, so those can't be the cause of any issues (Intel NIC, Hauppauge WinTV, Adaptec SAS RAID 5805) and all have updated latest drivers.

I told them that I found out on forums about other people using other brands like ASUS X79 boards that were experiencing the same random freezing bug until the OEM released a BIOS Upgrade in January 2013 that fixed it. I think that either ASUS added a CPU Microcode update or the bug was related to Intel Management Engine Firmware versions, anyway without the Intel errata documents it's hard to tell but the OEMs must know the culprit.

Anyway I never seen Gigabyte not releasing BIOS updates for 7+ months .. I have been a Gigabyte customer for over 13 years now and I have had many friends buying Gigabyte motherboards and installing those for them. However the freezing bug can't be accepted. What amazes me too is the fact that no IT news site ever wrote any article about this serious freezing bug, however it seems that other OEMs have been fixing it because just checking ASUS and MSI I found out that they have been releasing updated BIOS with various "improve compatibility" written there up to April 2013 at least.. so any bug fixes that Intel released to them they have been promptly passing to their customers to ensure that the bugs got fixed along with any features enhancement.

Now, before installing and try out the BIOS Beta F3t for my motherboards I just wanted to know why it's different from the one that is available here.

(ok, my bad.. the F3t Beta BIOS CRC32 matches.. I misread it.. same file.. I will try upgrading and test it out hoping that the freezing bug is fully fixed there)
