  • Overclock values reset after every fresh start

OK, I searched everywhere on google but could not find any reason or solution as to why this is happening. I have a GA-P35-S3G motherboard which I have been overclocking for a month probably. The problem is that whenever I shutdown my computer & start it, my PC reboots twice or thrice even before showing the graphic card screen & then all my overclock values are replaced by the default values. I always have to press Del then, load the saved profile settings from CMOS & save the settings. Only after doing this overclocks my PC. This has started occurring just 4-5 days ago. Before that, my PC used to start properly with all the overclock settings. I have already run memtest & my RAM is fine.

That sounds exactly like what it's supposed to do, if it's configured with a bad setting or two. If you list your BIOS settings, someone can probably help you.

Re: Overclock values reset after every fresh start

        My understanding, too:
        two reboots = normal procedure to accomodate certain parameter changes;
three reboots = 'bad parameters' reset to defaults response...

As noted - you will be able to get it fixed here - find one of the 'empty parameter list' templates here, and post your settings...

        Good luck!

Re: Overclock values reset after every fresh start

Ok figured it out. The CPU EIST function was missing in the bios which is really strange. So I just did a 'Load Optimized Defaults' before overclocking & now my PC has rebooted with the overclock settings implemented. Thanx guys for showing ur appreciation in this.

Re: Overclock values reset after every fresh start

Hmm Eist should not be disappearing at all. Are you using the latest BIOS? If so did you load and apply optimized defaults and save/reboot after you flashed? If not you must do this after a flash.

If you are not using the latest BIOS please do update it as it may very well help solve your issue. Please read this Qflash guide, and DO NOT USE @BIOS>>>

Here is your boards BIOS page >>>
                GIGABYTE - Support - Motherboard - BIOS - GA-P35-S3G

Strangely I do not find other revisions, so that must be the only one made of that model.

As for your settings, here would be some optimal better performing ones if you like, and as you said you loose your settings every time they may be incorrect in Auto. Likely if your ram tests fine you should still set 2.0V as it may help, and your CPU voltage may not be enough for your overclock so it fails

I m srry I forgot to update my signature. I m using the F3a version & not F4 because its the only one that allows me to overclock my CPU & none other. I checked the RAM sticker & it says 5-5-5 but this restart problem was occurring even before I tightened my RAM timings & this morning it happened again.

Re: Overclock values reset after every fresh start

Ok, I Q-flashed the bios properly(load optimized -> Q-flash -> Load optimized) to F4 & tried the same overclock settings that I use in F3a but changed the Static tRead Value to 7/8. The bios did not hold my overclock values.

The Ram cover only says 1.8V. Its a Transcend JetRam DDR2-800 ram. The model name is JM800QLU-2G. Here's the link for the datasheet of this model:

Re: Overclock values reset after every fresh start

Try static tread 10 for now and refresh to act delay 62. And when you choose your memory multiplier please choose either the one with the 400 or 1600 Strap letter/symbol on it, or one with no symbol on it and see if that helps. Also test out the one with the 333/1333 strap or symbol on it, but the 400 one or none should be more stable

You never said do you have 2GB or 2x2GB of this ram? And can you please post me a Image of CPU-z with the SPD tab selected? Thanks

And just so you know the same settings will not always work in different BIOS versions you may need more or less of any setting between them

Have you tested more vcore, if not try it as well

Srry again. I m using only single stick. I tried those values 10 & 62 (rest of the settings in M.I.T same as mentioned in my last post) with SPD multiplier 2.4 but as expected that did not work either. I also cleared the CMOS by shutting down the PC ,then using that jumper method for alteast 25 minutes & finally a Load Optimized Defaults but to no avail. Even the unnecessary features in Power Management & Legacy USB Storage are disabled.

                          SPD screenshot (no overclock settings):

What memory multiplier are you using, I mean is it one with a letter or symbol on it?

So are you using the newest BIOS now and not a beta? Is EIST Showing now still?

Static tRead of 3 is still being used, this is a HUGE issue

                              1. I m using 2.4 multiplier & it has no +,- or any other symbols. Those symbols are
                              only present on 4.0 multiplier.

                              2. EIST disappears if I overclock when using the F3a version.....don't know if it will
                              disappear after overclocking on F4.

                              3. Static tRead is 3 when left on Auto & CPU is not overclocked. When I overclock,
then I always change it to values between 7-11 as u told.

I will move it to slot 1 & let u know.
