    Its entirely possible that that 300W PSU is holding ya back but so long as you stay under 1.7v on the core you'll be fine.

      The 2.4C does outperform a 3.06B, they're both HT enabled, but the 2.4 is on a 200mhz QDR bus, whilst the 3.06 is only on a 133 QDR bus. Than the 2.4C at 3.4Ghz just all out murders a 3.06 as its at a 283 QDR bus.

        In a situation like yours, 300w psu especially if it's a cheap one is askin for trouble. If I am not mistaken, I believe the 800fsb ht p4's use about 10 watts more than a 533fsb ht p4 and 25 watts more than a 533fsb non ht p4(at stock speeds). In general, ocing can become difficult without enough power.

          I'll second that it is probably the PSU is your problem here.

          Get at least a 430W Antec...

            Getting a better PSU and possibly upping your ram voltage to maybe 2.73 might help.
