I have used a 6970 2gb and a 5450, the 5450 is powered by the pci-e port. I will try with onboard tonight as I will need to borrow my sons monitor, mine are vga his is HDMI. I can install windows fine from a usb or dvd but when I remove the usb/disk stick. The system is posting fine - bios - restart and loops with no display.

The install looks fine but when at the desktop the pc restarts on its own almost instantly, whatever is happening after bios screen is making the pc restart and loop and I cannot get back into desktop.

ill update this thread,he said he cured it by changing the dvd rom drive,the cmos battery,new hdd and new windows cd

so one or more of those fixed the loops,board was fine all along
