  • Ivy / Haswell Deliding thread

I thought I might start a thread about deliding Ivy / Haswell cpus. You can post links / pics of how to delid and or your results from deliding. What thermal paste did you? etc....

I found this method to be the best. Now I didnt get mine off in 5 sec like this guy did but it still came out.

Now I did this on my Ivy which is a Malay chip I think I may have either use to much mx4 on the core or mine didnt really have a gap issue as temps did not change, maybe 1-2c different. I will try this on my Haswell but will do a before and after.

Re: Ivy / Haswell Deliding thread

      already did my ivy

I found to cut just one corner and insert a tiny plasic cutter and the four remaining sides came off in an instant,no niks or cuts either

coollaboratory liquid pro is 100% the way to go,i saw atleast 10-20c drop, don't use regular thermal paste you won't see any temp drop at all

heres how to apply liquid pro,if using on haswell make sure that you stay well away from the line of resistors under the internal heatsink as if you get any liquid pro on them it will short and fry the cpu

Re: Ivy / Haswell Deliding thread

I was thinking about using liquid pro or ultra on the core. So what do you guys think liquid pro or ultra, ultra is the newer stuff i believe. Also pro/ultra on the core and mx4 on the ihs to water block? or pro/ulta on both? Can you remove it and go back to paste? I am also gonna try running the cpu naked.

Also I am assuming a 1155 back plate will work on 1150?

Re: Ivy / Haswell Deliding thread

yes pro for me on both core and heatsink

1155/1150 are the same mounting holes so all coolers for those will fit

and yeah it just wipes off and you can use paste, don't use liquid pro/ultra on anything aluminium as it corrodes it,copper or nickel plated is fine

Re: Ivy / Haswell Deliding thread

Not sure, but I think that the newer Liquid Ultra is easier to remove and clean up if you want to go back to using TIM.

You coat the cpu die and the underside of the IHS.

                        Oh My Gawd!

Given the extremely small size of the ~1.4 billion transistors on an i7-4770K, IMO it is a miracle that physical shock does not damage them. Sure the CPU die is a solid object, but how things that small are not disturbed at the atomic level at all is amazing.
