    Of Course they didn't.

Search on here for Warranty, you should find a link that points to where you can enter your serial number and it will tell you if it is or not.

Re: New PCIe Card not Recognized on Cold Boot, Works Perfect on Restarts. Why?

I checked out the manual of the z77 board I was looking at. As you said I would be depending on 3rd party controllers to get the back panel usb3 ports I want and Marvell for all but 2 sata3 ports. Much better than my current board but not something I'd want to keep for 5 years. At least it has usb3 internal headers so I don't have to do the ridiculous pass through!

I think you are right it would be better use what I have, putting up with restarts and wait till fall for a reasonable price on the new stuff. I am actually more interested in the z87 functions than the new processors. The current I7's would probably be fine for my uses but faster is good.

Do you think decent pricing will happen by fall? I would think it would take much longer for the just out stuff to come down.

Re: New PCIe Card not Recognized on Cold Boot, Works Perfect on Restarts. Why?

Brand new hardware prices usually sell for a premium price when they are introduced and the prices generally start to trend downward within a month or two. Because desktop sales have decreased quite a bit this past year, this might put pressure on Haswell prices if demand isn't that strong. I've recently seen some steep Ivy Bridge motherboard price discounts on quite a few midrange mobos, but IB processors seem to be in their normal price range. Haswll processors have 1150 pins so there isn't any compatibility with IB boards or cpu's. Buyers of the higher end K processors are older and wiser about small performance increases based on the incremental changes going from Sandy Bridge to Ivy Bridge. It will be interesting to see if Haswell's improved feature set will help with increased sales.

The best price discounts should start just before Thanksgiving but it pays to watch for special deals at all times. I bought an 80 Plus Platinum rated Seasonic 660 watt power supply in March when Newegg dropped the price to $90 (after rebate). I'm hoping that Samsung has new memory available similar to what they sold last year. Keep in mind that the U.S. government might pass a law that forces state sales taxes to be charged by the seller on all internet sales sometime near or just after the first of the year.

It will be interesting to see who provides a fix for your usb 3.0 controller hiccup, as the card seems to work fine after you jump through some hoops each time you cold boot your system. It sounds like you might have some usb 3.0 issues with waking from sleep and/or hibernation. I was checking the specs last night for an ASUS P8Z77 - V Deluxe for a forum post and discovered some issues where an e-sata port "shares" bandwidth with one of the sata ports. I'll be looking closely at new motherboards to ensure that my SLI setup doesn't interfere with other pci-e lanes on a Haswell board.

I've been using dual core processors for so long now, I think I'll just buy a quad core and run hyper threading all the time, even if it hurts overclocking performance in some cases.

Yeah we definitely want to beat that sales tax since they will charge the local tax rate where you live not the general state tax. In my case that would be 7.25% vs 8.5%. With these revenue hungry politicians I'd say it's a sure thing they will pass it. Looks like the senate will go for it and only the house will kill it.

Seems like I buy most of my stuff from Amazon or Newegg. Since I'm not a gamer I'm going to look at what ever Gigabyte comes out with as far as a mainstream deluxe board UD5.

            Win7 Pro 64 Bit

.. err...hmm.... I live in Ontario Canada... Tax here is 13%

We had a provincial and federal tax that was combined and called a "Harmonized" sales tax... More like another way to ream you more in the poop.....

Before you were always charged federal for commodities and both for everything else, now its both for everything...

              I'd kill for 8.5%
