I think it was 0x124. I have not had much time to mess around with it. I was hoping the next non beta BIOS would fix it. I'll try upping the qpi/vtt/cpu vtt a little.

124 can be not enough cpu voltage aswell,if its not that its qpi/vtt for sure,if you raise cpu dvid a little it should let the cpu idle with ever so slightly higher voltage and stop bsod if its that thats causing it

I just got my UD3H today and will finally get to play with it soon.
A bit lame question: could anyone direct me to an article about Ivy Bridge overclocking? I could google several in ten seconds, but not all sources are equally good.
Last time I overclocked anything was with my current P45-based machine so I am a bit lost how it works these days - totally differently, that's for sure.

Fixed. Pretty handy way the profiles work here I must say.

I just finished briefly running through the overclocking guide. Nice job there. It still doesn't answer my questions though. I am interested in overclocking my system on default voltages or even slightly under. The trouble is I can't seem to find what those vaules are at all! Tried to google a bit for at least the very basic VCORE value for my CPU but couldn't find anything.

I've seen many cases where an Ivy Bridge system will overclock to about 4.0 - 4.2GHz with stock voltage.
Many z77 systems have a "magic" overclock button that will o/c the system to these values.
With power savings options enabled, the cpu vcore will be lower than the normal vcore value.
Cpu-z and other programs will report the normal vcore value and you should see this value in the bios.

4GHz is absolutely ok for me - I got a bit older and don't care for numbers all that much anymore.

                    More questions:
When going through all the bios options, what does "normal" stand for?
What are the values in first column? Are those some sort of defaults? Like all those special voltages for CPU, or the timings for memory for example.

I assume I shouldn't keep anything on auto settings. Should I just make note of all the values I can find with power saving options disabled and manually set them?

Oh and uh, I might have missed something, but what's up with that vcore value under CPU core voltage control? The number on the left magically changes whenever I raise multiplier. I assume default vcore for 3770K is 1.025V, and when I changed multiplier from 35 to 40, this changed to 1.150 (I think). How shall I understand this?

When in the bios after just loading Optimized defaults, look at the column in the center for vcore. This value should be the VID (default vcore) for me my cpu was 1.115. Now as you change cpu multi vcore will change when set to auto or using DVID following the SVID in the cpu.

Edit - When overclocking the cpu the only thing you should need to change is vcore. I would suggest changing Load line calibration under 3d power to turbo then set vcore to the value you see at the middle column. As you increase cpu multi slowly increase vcore as needed.

For memory set memory to rated speed then set Dram timing selectable to quick and set the base timings for your memory example 11 11 11 28 1T. 1T being command rate which is a little further down in the same screen.

Leave everything thing else on auto.

Hmm your cpu should auto overclock to 39x or atleast mine did from optimized defaults and 35x being set in bios. If you are on the stock intel cooler those temps sound correct. These things run hot, I would suggest getting after market cooler or look into a watercooling kit. I forgot to say to set ddr voltage to rated votlage for your memory.

Max core temp on these is 105c so you wanna keep core temps to around 85c for 24/7 use.

I got one more question on top of the curiosity about "normal" values, which are still a mystery.

When underclocking, or say trying to lower the temperatures in general, which one shall I lower first? Vcore or PLL? Or maybe, which one has likely higher effect on stability? I hit a stock vcore limit at exactly 4GHz it seems, so I might as well just try to lower the volts a little.
