I think almost everyone has had USB problems at some point. I had that "usb hub" message a few times weeks ago. Mine went away with newer drivers, good to know uninstalling/reinstalling works too. I think it took a while for Intel to get their drivers worked out for Z77. I see there's a newer driver from Intel stasio posted up top, gonna try it even though I'm having no problems.

I've had my new PC with the GZ-Z77X-UD5H Wifi for about 5 weeks now. Up until today I've had zero problems, was running the F7 bios and had no crashes/lockups - totally smooth. Started playing ME3 on and off about 2 and half weeks ago and everything was fine until today when suddenly PC would lockup, go black screen followed by looping sound after a few minutes of starting the game. Rebooted and kept trying and it was crashing roughly after the same amount of time with the same symptoms. BCLK is set to 101 after going from 100(auto) to 100.1 and has not helped. Also flashed to F8 and has not helped either. Most other settings are still set to the optimized defaults I would imagine. Does anyone know anything else I could try?

i would try with manual cpu/vtt voltage of 1.10v from stock 1.05v

Thanks for the suggestion. So far so good. Though the screen did flicker black and came back a few times worryingly ...

Edit: well almost an hour later it happened again, though at least it took a lot longer this time...

try with 1.12v cpu/vtt,you can safely use upto 1.2v but i doubt youd need that much

I've just installed some beta nvidia video drivers, those issues I reported is apparently a potential driver issue.

Right now I cannot say though if it perhaps just the video card driver or something to do with compatibility with the motherboard anymore.

I will try your suggestion too if this does not end up fixing anything.

The Corsair DRAM you are using is not compatible with 22nm ivy bridge and 3rd generation Intel i7. Please refer to the following page :



Though I did not check for your PS compatibility, you MUST use tested units by manufacturers (whoever they are) because you might have enough Wattage but the amperage might cause problems with CPU and/or DRAM. You might encounter problem to find a PS that has been tested with both CPU and Graphic Cards, as they too, have their own crop.

My system is randomly freezing and shutting down. I have tried 2x Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz 8GB ram sets (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B) and G.Skill Ripjaw F3-17000CL9D-9GBXM. I am not overclocking and I am using the stock CPU fan.

i7 3770k w/ stock cooling not OC'd
16GB RAM 2x Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz 8GB ram sets (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B)
eVGA GTX 260 gpu
Antec 550watt PSU
Intel 80GB SSD (310 series)

Everything but mobo/cpu/ram was pulled from my working Q6600 build. I have put the Q6600 parts back in and no issues.

System will freeze in the BIOS, W7, linux, anywhere.

Temperatures are all within range and I have seen no errors in any event logs.

I'm bumping this thread cause I have a similar problem.

My Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H
CPU: i7-3770K
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance Low-Profile 16GB (2 x 8GB) (CML16GX3M2A1600C10)

Every component is at stock settings, as far as I know:





Every crash I've had was a Blue Screen with an error code. I'm lost on what my minidumps are telling me. It's very troublesome. Any help is greatly appreciated.


Edit: Although it may be a entirely different problem, I have a WLAN(WIFI)/Bluetooth adapter which came with my motherboard: GC-WB300D. I ran a few tests with Windows "Verifier" to check if a driver was the root of this BSOD problem. It seemed like the WLAN driver was the culprit at first, because it did BSOD crash, but the "Bug Check Code" and "Bug Check String" in the minidump were completely different from the other BSODs. It may just be an unrelated problem, but I'm just throwing this out here.

Your problem might be related to using 8GB memory modules.
Try running with only one module installed to see if this helps.
A better alternative might be to test with 2x4GB modules to see if it helps.

Download and install WhoCrashed from Resplendence Software - WhoCrashed, automatic crash dump analyzer
The default setting is to analyze data from 15 BSOD's and you can increase or decrease the number of dumps to be analyzed.

Well I gave it a try with just x1 8GB memory module.
After I removed the stick I immediately tested prime95's "Small FFTs" test and still crashed (allot sooner than usual). I always get a 0x124 bug code from that test, but I'll have to check the minidump from my other HDD when I restart.
I have a separate Windows OS on my other HDD with only drivers that didn't crash from this Windows Verifier method. It was from that system I ran this recent prime95 test (x1 8GB).

I wish I had another DDR3 RAM kit around to test. There's no real way I can test to determine if my module kit size is the problem. I don't know whether or not if I should get a new RAM kit.

Thanks for the program. This WhoCrashed program makes the minidump debugging process a bit easier, but none of these error dumps are pointing to a specific driver. 2/3 of my minidumps read the same error, such as this:

Bugcheck code: 0x124 is the BSOD error code and this almost always means that cpu vcore is too low and needs to be raised a bit higher.
You might need to raise one or two other voltages slightly.
With 2x8GB of memory, IMC and/or VDDR might needed to be raised one click.
I'm not familiar with specific voltage recommendations or overclocking your system, so I'll let others make specific recommendations.
After flashing your bios to F8, did you boot into the bios, load optimized bios defaults, save settings and exit, and then boot into the bios again to make any needed bios changes?

It might be best for you to clear the cmos and boot into the bios to load optimized bios defaults, etc.

A web search using BSOD 0x124 will provide links to several excellent sites with more detailed information and several forums that deal specifically with BSOD code debugging. We can often help with many of the most common error codes.

i would set dram voltage to 1.5v,might need 1.55v

and cpu/vtt voltage to 1.10v from stock 1.05v and retest

I made sure to load optimized bios defaults after I flashed my BIOS to F8, so I guess my BIOS has everything set to stock.

It always locks up when gaming (BF3 / Arma 2).

It happens about once in every 8 to 10 hours of gaming so maybe once every 3 days.

Everything is at stock apart from the RAM voltage which i set at 1.50v and of course BCLK to 101 now.

That sounds similar to my situation so, I tried changing the settings in the BIOS to the best of my knowledge.

I increased the dram to 1.55v and the qpi/vtt from stock 1.05v to 1.10v, but my system wouldn't even boot. It just kept power booting and failing, so I reverted back to "optimized defaults" and here I am back at square one.

Maybe I did something wrong, to be honest I don't know jack about overclocking at the moment. I chose these parts for the opportunity of OC'ing as I learn. So, would anyone be able to point me towards a brush-up guide on OC'ing so I can figure this out.

did you set bclk to 100mhz?

use 1.5v for dram and try just one or two clicks extra vccsa voltage

with 16gb its usually not enough cpu/vtt for the integrated memory controller,

EDIT,you could try just adding one or two clicks more than stock 1.5v dram voltage

I can't find where to change vccsa and BCLK. The monitor on the front M.I.T. tab reads about BCLK: 100.12Mhz. Also, I'm not sure if I found the DRAM ID and qpi/vtt settings.

IS DRAM ID in: M.I.T.\Advanced Voltage Settings\DRAM Voltage Contol › DRAM Voltage

And qpi/vtt in:
M.I.T.\Advanced Voltage Settings\CPU Voltage Control › CPU Vtt

Sorry for the newbie questions. I need to be absolutely sure I'm doing this right. I tried saving screenshots to a usb but FAT32/16 only. :/ I'll be back with pics if that help with mapping out settings exactly.
