Hi skypy, a few pages ago you posted the following file:

Did someone request this, and did it work for them? I can't find any related posts, at least not in this thread. <s>I also wondered if there was a reason you started with release F6d, as the newest ones are F8 (final) and F9b (beta).</s> Thanks.

[edit 1: I took a few moments to download the file and view it in CBROM: It is based on bios F9b (as per the filename) - so it's only the description that is incorrect. Still no idea who requested it or if it works, I will report my findings when I get a chance to test it myself.]

Saw these new (beta) releases posted today:
      www.station-drivers.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=32
      ROM: Intel RAID OROM 12.0.0.1783
Not sure which chipset boards this would apply to?
Edit: RAID OROM 12.0.0.1783 seems to NOT work with x79 boards.
Edit #2: X79 now seems to be "OK" running with RAID OROM 12.0.0.1783.
Driver: Intel Rapid Storage Technology 12.0.0.1083
The new driver seems to work OK with my Z77-UD5H board, which currently has the beta bios (version F15o) which includes the Intel RST firmware version 11.6.0.1702.

Hey guys some feedback - forget 12xx Orom if you want Raid0 / Trim on x79.
Done a couple of tests since flashing and now trim Raid Fails ! It looks like 11.6 Orom is the only way forward for now.
Going to do a couple more tests just to validate my results.

Thx ProfJim - i was aware of the program and all ready posted up in the new programs thread, But its not 100% Stable just yet so HEX is still needed to validate.
Still more tests to do. sigh.http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...tml#post450568
I was not aware of the article though - Providing feedback in the thread requested.

                thx

                UPDATE :Ok here goes -

Tested Orom again new version 12.xx on my Gigabyte G1 Assassin 2 x79.
However this time using V4 of the trim check utility it passed the trim test !

To back this up i then used the tried / tested and trusted WinHex method of Fernando's and crew.
Again this came up with 0000000 across the board. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...=1#post5122967

So the Trimcheck utility seems to be working correctly now and validated with Hex Method.

Furthermore good news for our x79 Platform !!

Here is the link to my data -rather than put it up again.

                  Hello,

I have a Z68X-UD7-B3 which I bought on release. The bios it came with was F4, I have been running my 2600k at 4.4GHz with zero issues. I just bought a 7970 and I am having freezing issues with BF3 so I thought I would update the bios.

I'm assuming F10 is the latest stable one.

This post seems to be the latest bios: http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...tml#post446635

My question is, the autoexe.bat file says:
                  flashspi Z68XUD7.F10

                  Now in the folder I have a Z68XUD7.F10 and a Z68XUD7MOD.F10

Am I right to assume that the command in the batch file should infact be?:
                  flashspi Z68XUD7MOD.F10

Also, should I try to boot into dos and run that command or try using the native bios flashing tool? (qflash I think)

So I tried qflash, couldn't find my usb stick in any port despite having legacy usb support enabled. Formatted it to fat32.
Used the hp tool to create a bootable usb drive. Use spiflash /S and saved the original bios.
                    Renamed Z68XUD7MOD.F10 to Z68XUD7.F10
Tried flashspi Z68XUD7.F10 and it said bad bios image... what am I doing wrong?

                    edit:

Flashed official F8 with spiflash and it worked, flashed official f10 and it worked. Tried the modded f10 and it still said bad bios image =/

                      @ creomortis:
The only situation where the bootable USB thumb drive method is required is when transitioning from "standard bios" to UEFI bios.
Otherwise, I recommend using the Gigabyte "@bios" version B12.0723.1 (Windows software) to do the bios flashing:
                      GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 (rev. 1.0)
The latest beta bios for your Z68X-UD7-B3 board seems to be version F11a, which is evidently still a non-UEFI "standard bios".

Are you seriously recommending I use @BIOS? From the limited reading I have done on flashing this is a HUGE no no as it has the the potential to corrupt your bios and brick your board.

If you read my posts DOS flash was necessary because qflash would not see my USB drive.

The F11a bios from what I've read is very unstable. I appreciate you trying to help but if I was a complete noob and followed your instructions I would most likely be having issues coming out of my arse now.

                        • Re: GIGABYTE Modified Bios

@ creomortis: All I can say is: there was an instance of one particular bios update for my Z77 board that refused to complete while using the bootable (to DOS prompt) USB thumb drive method. Another Britisher on another forum said that he had used Gigabyte's @bios Windows program, and succeeded on the same board and bios version update. So: the exact @bios version that I recommended has worked fine since then for me.
Note: on the Gigabyte Z77 boards, there's a slide switch that allows selectable switching (while power is disconnected) from the primary to the backup bios. So: even on the off chance of a corrupted bios, one could easily recover by powering off the system, switch selecting the backup bios, and reboot as normal. Once booted, slide the selector switch back and re-flash the corrupted bios.
Does your Z68 board have a selector switch? Even if it doesn't, Gigabyte's "Dual Bios" would still allow recovery from a botched flash procedure.
Do I trust using the @bios program? Yes, I do. Older Windows bios flash programs may have had their problems, but Gigabyte's current Windows bios flash has worked flawlessly for me, at least.
