Starting to see what your cpu likes and dislikes yet?

I think I saw chike say it run the stability test a little longer to ensure system is stable. Prime95 run for a few hours depending on test, LinX no more then a max of 20 runs at full memory. The first 1-5 runs is a good idea that the system is close, 10-20 for full stability.
Ya chike isn't gonna stop til my CPU is black and smoking ;) jking............got it to 4.0 (3.96), but, a tad shakey and warm........so, dropping down to 3.85 22x175

1000 / memmhz = time in nanoseconds one cycle takes.

        so at 700mhz that would be 1000 / 700 = 1,428571428571429ns, so 7 cycles woud take exactly 7*1,428571428571429ns = 10ns
        at 800mhz you get 1000 / 800 = 1,25ns. you can see 8 cycles also take 10ns

so the time it takes to 'open' the memory stays the same, but when data is moved the higher frequency makes for more data pulses per sec, that is where higher mhz gets an advantage.

Well, i think i am settled on 3.85=175x22.......seems stable, ran a few tests successfully, will do some more......

Thanks Chike for your incredible amount of help, also thanks to wazza, darkje, acebmxer and lsdmeasap...I've learned so much about overclocking and my system, and, thanks to you, I'm anxious to learn more. will re-read all your posts here, trying to digest them more fully, and, some of the links posted here are great reading too......,can't believe I have never gotten into overclocking before, its so damned much FUN !!!....I will surely be spending lots more time here. (hmmmm, I wonder what kind of overclock I can get on my amd dual core/asus mb, and maybe even the laptop, i think its a dual core t4500....*smiles* )

This site has some awfully brilliant, generous and kind people. I've always believed in the saying "the true measure of a man or woman is what they do for others, without looking for anything in return". ok, getting a bit mushy here.......just wanted to let you all know how grateful i am.

              Thanks again.

Prime95 blend overnight should be sufficient, and then normal work, flash player is known to crash if the machine is not stable.
Mind posting your settings, and some benchmarks results for the future generations?
                How are the temperatures?

37.5% overclock, not bad at all.
If nothings blows up you can use this machine at least 5 more years, though the PSU will likely need to be replaced.

It's great to hear you've been able to learn a lot about overclocking and hardware, keep on reading as you can always learn more!! It's also cool to see you finally got a pretty decent overclock on that board, very nice!!

"prime" has small and large FFTs.
I do believe your normal vcore is not 1.8...v

EDIT: is it reproduceable, if you run the same size FFT?

oh yes, sorry, typo, 1.1825v is normal vcore

ok, will have to run more prime95 tests to try to reproduce

                              Thanks again!

I'd say maybe more QPI/Vtt or Vcore, I dislike DVID personally, so others will have to tell you if my thoughts are correct about Vcore.

Why are you running the memory so slow though anyway? That might cause issues in itself, did you try x10 multi instead for 1750?

no no, thank you ! ;)

I was about to ask if i should nudge up vtt or vcore a tad.....i mean , i think its pretty darned close to stable..............so, instead of normal + dvid, you set static vcore value ?

and on the memory speed.......i've kinda forgotten , all I remember is 1800 definitely didn't work when we tried that........
