    Re: Help me OC an EP45T-UD3LR + Core2duo E8400

Do not leave vcore/PLL auto, set vcore to default value or normal, same with PLL.

DDR-1600 was never known stable memory settings. Try DDR-1333 with SMM 3.33D and timings as you had them at 333MHz FSB. DRAM Voltage 1.5-1.575v

I will try increasing my cpu clock ratio to 8x, should I increase mch core to 1240v too? Memory performance is still low, and still running single channel..

        Re: Help me OC an EP45T-UD3LR + Core2duo E8400

No up your cpu host feq 10 or 20 MHz then test again if ok raise the cpu freq up again 10/20 MHz and test again and so on. We want to see @ what cpu freq it fails at then add voltage as per if it fails on large or small FFT's

BTW your prime report is un-necessary all we need to know is if it fails on small or large FFt's

Also for just a quick check about 15 minutes in each mode will do for now.

should I be testing with both rams in dual channel mode or just one? cause Things change when I put again the second ram

Do you have a stable bios with both ram sticks? If so load that up and continue to test as above. Have you ever had a stable system with the 8 gigs of memory. Reason I ask if your not stable with optimized defaults with a few minor tweaks, makes it harder to be stable at higher clocks.

Personally I would load optimized defaults and go from there. Not knowing your MB I am not sure of default values.

Well then I would put the other stick in by it's self and test it at your current settings. If ok then try both pairs at your current settings. Also what do you have the command rate set @. Set to 2T if not and set your tFRC to around 84-86.

optimized defaults doesn't work on 8gb or even a single channel, I tried loading them but it fails.

Please read and fill out this bios template. Also use optimized defaults when you do so. on a side note:To boot you may need to add a little v core and raise your v dim to say 1.55v or try auto

There in lies your problem... if you can't a stable system on optimized defaults your wasiting your time trying to OC IMO.

just for learning.. The reason 8gb ram isn't stable for OC is because of the p45 chipset / socket 775 cpu? I mean, I've seen OC systems with 8 or more gb ram but with newer mobos..

It's possible to run 8 gigs of ram may just a little more difficult in getting the right settings. I think we need to get you a stable optimized settings. One reason if your ocing and run into a boot problem and the system wants to go back to default settings and there is none you will just boot loop. Does that make sense?

still that doesn't answer my question about if the problem is the p45 chipset, if not.. OC will still suck with 8gb even if I buy a brand new X79 chipset mobo.. on the other hand the thing you're saying about boot loop is wrong, when I load a setting in M.I.T and fails, the thing reboots twice and then goes to the FAIL-SAFE or stantdar settings, NOT to the "optimized defaults". I can run normally the 8gb ram at 333fsb, 1333mhz mem rate (thats without touching m.i.t) but when I press LOAD OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS and save & quit, I get the dual reboot until it boot again with fail-safe settings
It's not like I didn't understand what you tried to say with the boot loop, but if optimized defaults was really loading after every failed settings, then I'll be in the loop you said.

update= so I've switched my rams to my "old ones" (patriot viper 2x2gb [email protected]) to try if loades the optimized defaults.. the result: it didn't
it's not like its an 8gb problem, maybe is a bios version issue. I might try the f12e
                            -Intel E8400 Wolfdale + Corsair H50 + Corsair Vengeance 8gb@1600mhz + XFX HD-5770 + GIGABYTE EP45T-UD3LR/F5 BIOS rev 1.0 + Barracuda 1TB = Cooler Master CM-690II advanced

How do you tell fail-safe settings from opimized defaults?
