just one of those things,as with any component, sometimes you just get a faulty unit, luckily nothing else was damaged, rma your ud7 and see how you get on with the replacement board

EDIT:you dont know how well its being stored either,in damp warehouses ect,and no one is banning you so dont know why you couldnt post?

      Hello Wazza.

Feel happy with no banning, haha..

You are right when you say it can be a faulty unit, but I insist that is the first time in my long career with motherboards that happens to me... And thanks no other components got spoiled...

For the seen until now, people are not happy with the board, some about usb's, others about poor overclocking, others about bios not stable...

I can say that rampage iv is quite more stable and overclockeable than ud7. And all worked first time, rock solid... Gigabyte must improve the board asap..

I agree, asus release stronger bios's but release fewer, gigabyte release bios's more regular but are always tweaking them,I've had no trouble with gigabyte boards and no smokers regardless of brand, you will find though with new mb and new platforms you will always see problems with bugs ect,I remember going through it with my mb but bugs and issues do get fixed eventually with newer software and bios updates,it judt takes a while for them to catch up

Well, received the new Giga yesterday in the morning, made the setup and powered on the system. The original bios was f2. The mainboard restarted automatically 3 times and then got into windows. Windows had x79 drivers because of rampage iv, installed automatically and then rebooted. After rebooting, I powered off.

Later, I decided to flash the bios to version f4 through qflash. After flashing, the bios started to show the message: "the system is unstable due to overclocking", telling me to enter the bios to solve the problem. The fact is I didn't do any overclocking, cos everything in bios was in auto, but memory timings and voltage.

Well, after exiting bios, at last window started to boot, but what happened next? Suddenly windows logo disappeared and my case started to produce smoke. I switched off immediately and opened the case. I could see 4 cpu phases completely burned...

Its the first time I have a bad experience like this with a motherboard... The rampage iv is again on my rig, and all correct... I feel lucky as other components are safe...

I have to say that I had a Giga x58a ud9 with a 980x and felt very happy with it (once I found a stable bios). I also like x79 ud7 layout much more than Asus Rampage (dont like my noctua nh d14 just side by side with first graphics card), so decided to give it a try.

I finally got a working board and am now trying to install the "F6" raid driver for my Vertex 3s in RAID 0 however Windows keeps complaining that it cannot install unsigned drivers on x64. Where did you find a working driver?

That's the one I've been trying along with the disc provided with the mobo. No matter which driver I try for either raid controller it says the driver is unsigned.

                    Re: GA-x79-UD7

No I think they are looking for the actual driver. Now unless they change something with x79 Win7 should have drivers built in for raid while using the intel controller.

@GBorelli and Excavator are you guys saying the win7 setup is not able to detect your drives to install win7 onto?

Raid roms are what you modd the bios with.

Edit Found new bios for you guys. I know Excavator was haveing lan port issues. This does not say it address that, But address issues some users having error 6a on Diag LED.

                    x79ud7f4f.exe

Yes this is supposed to be newer then F4.

Ok, I've st up the RAID 0 volume through the Gigabyte RAID setup. Now when installing Win 7 x64 it does not detect the SSDs and needs the preinstall driver loader to communicate with the RAID. However, when I try to load the driver from the provided DVD or from Gigabyte's website Windows installation claims that the driver is unsigned and thus cannot be loaded.

Gigabyte Raid????? Which port are you plugging your drive into??? Starting from right to left The 2 white ports (Intel Sata3), the 4 black ports (Intel Sata2), or the last 4 gray ports (Marvell sata3)

I guess it does not really matter if you got win7 installed. I know in the past with the marvell controller it was highly suggest not to install their drivers let the MS drivers install and only intall the Marvell raid utility.

Unless SSD need drivers for win7 were hdd's do not??

Finally got the damn thing to boot and updated BIOS to F4. Now if I can only get Windows to install the preinstall RAID driver... it has detected my RAID array, but still won't install the driver because it's unsigned.

Went to reboot with my 1TB HDD installed and the damned thing is halting on 6A again... but this time it reboots itself and repeats...

Received new giga x79 ud7 today. This second board is lucky. The first one got burnt. This one was involucrated in a car accident and it survived!!!

Well, after installing it, 6A error. But after clearing cmos, and flashing to f4f, the board works solid like a rock. I am happy with it, happier than with rampage iv and its first pciexpress next to my heatsink.

Regards from Spain and Merry Christmas!!!

Any of you are having trouble with sli on x79 platform??

I have 2xGigabyte gtx 560ti 448+asus 560ti dc2 physx and after benching with 3dmark11 have artifacts and the screen goes off. I had the same problem in Asus Rampage. Dont know if is driver related (nvidia drivers and x79 platform, I am using 290.53), or raid card incompatibility (I have an LSI 9750 4i connected to pciexpress).

If I switch off sli, all works correctly.

                                Any ideas??
