i dont know,try a brand thats on the qvl list,1600mhz should run on your board,if it doesnt bother you then run the memory you have at 1333mhz?

It keeps cold booting now matter what speed.

Plus on top of all this I can hear a high freq whining starting to come from the mobo....

I think it's time to throw this mobo and ram in the bin and get a new mobo and ram for my i7930

Any recommendations?

I want a great board (not over featured/ not under) and ram that is guaranteed to go well with it

the whine is normal on ex58's,some do it and some dont it can be psu or gpu that causes it,disabling c1e in the bios usually gets rid of it,personally i would buy different ram first then try that,if no good then go for a different mb

The mem compatibility list lists so many ram...and these lists aren't to be trusted I heard...so any kind of idea would be good...coz I'm going to the shop in 3 hours...and I'm just gonna be pointing at ram in the dark....gimme 3 of those, 2 of that, some of these...

any main brand should work ocz,corsair,kingston i would try the kingston but its up to you and i dont want to be blamed incase it doesnt work still,but it wont be any worse

i can recommend my ram too but its rare to find a set now and its expensive,ocz reaper,ive had no problems for 2years with it,but avoid the ocz gold they are low quality,just go for the main top brands with decent timings

ill stick my neck out and say its not bad ram,i just dont think its supported very well with the bios's,you want ram thats rated at between 1.5-1.66v too not 1.5-1.75v

So are you suggesting that I just haven't set values in bios correctly yet?

Or are you saying that the ram is ok....but that this particular ram is not suited for this particular board?

Are you saying this ram would be quite fine in another board...just not this one?

I can recommend my ram as well. I have achieved rated speed but like I say in all my post running it at is rated speed requires to much voltage but I know my ram will not hold my back for any overclock.

i dont know,i know that gigabyte adds support for ram in newer bios releases and beta bios's,i dont think adata is supported aswell as the others,and its not on the qvl list? it still could be a bios/voltage setting and you just havent hit on the right amount yet,but for 1600mhz ram you shouldnt really need to change a huge amount or use alot of voltage

A-Data is on the compatibility list...about 4 or 5 sticks...but not my exact stick
