One suggestion...when you get up to those high CPU clock, some chips like extra
Vtt, you may get higher if you run it up to around 1.46 or so.

    Thanks guys :)

@Roller: Yes, I have tried higher vtt, but I think I have reached the limit of my CPU/Cooling with HT on, and more vtt does not seem to help. I''ll probably need it for a higher OC'd HT off run though.

@PrasRig: I had never heard of GOOC2009 untill your post ^^. I'll check it out, and maybe if I get a good D0 I'll give it a shot...

        Re: POST EX58 Series OC's & PIC's HERE

Can we get a more systematic approach going?

Please post the main 4 voltages at least with every post:

        CPU Vcore
        CPU PLL
        QPI/VTT
        DRAM

Also, how is everyone stability testing? I can boot into windows with some awesome numbers and run normal applications, Pi, and some more tests, but running Prime95 (blend) and Intel Burn test simultaneously will kill the thing within 10 minutes.

This is what worries me :P

So how are you guys stability testing? Please describe.

        Here is my stability test:
Start Prime95 (blend), then Intel Burn Test (10 iterations with max stress and error checking) and run simultaneously until Intel Burn Test finishes. If no errors in either test then I trust the numbers!

Can we propose a standard test so we can all really compare? I am OCing right now, but I am waiting on my stability test to finish! Will post only if it passes :) UPDATE: Fail on my OC - crashed during stability test after ~30min :(

Also what kind of cooling are you using and what is your max core temps during the stress test?

Maybe use this template in addition to a CPU-Z pic (some of the pics don't give Vcore voltage so please include it here):
        CPU Vcore...1.312v
        CPU PLL...1.8v
        QPI/VTT...1.4v
        DRAM...1.66v

Stability Test: Prime95 (blend) and Intel Burn Test (10 iterations, max stress, error checking ON) simultaneously - run until Intel Burn Test completed

        Max Core Temp: 88C
        Cooling: Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme 1366
        Motherboard: EX58-UD4P

220 Blck HT ON (Extreme Ram Setting) (W/ Low QPI/Vtt)

CPU Vcore ................... 1.40 (Bios Setting)
          CPU PLL ......................1.84
          QPI/VTT ......................1.32
          DRAM ......................... 1.68

          CPU-Z Validator 3.0

222 Blck HT ON (Extreme Ram Setting)

CPU Vcore ................... 1.4125 (Bios Setting)
          CPU PLL ......................1.84
          QPI/VTT ......................1.38
          DRAM ......................... 1.72
MCH ........................... 1.36 << Make or break setting for me w/ Extreme Ram settings. Must be High for 217+ Blck

          CPU-Z Validator 3.0

No Stability testing done for these, just max clock pushes.

I think either our BIOS's are limited/broken or something else, no way should 222 be ok but 223 freeze no matter the settings or CPU Used. I know the QPI has a 4/9Ghz barrier but I have seen several other model boards doing 23+ Blck without issue so I think it is our BIOS's or boards. Likely the BIOS's as the one I am using now 220+ Blck no problem, last BIOS was a huge issue to hit 220 even with a Extreme CPU. I have yet to test if PCIE freq helps any as I have heard it can, and I have yet to test things with HT off so maybe better luck with those, but not sure?

Will have to do a 220+ x21 sometime this week

But here It never goes above 103 & 103 is the limit .................

Ya 103 limit here as well and I am not even convinced it runs that as ET always shows 100 still and I know it did not used to do that.

I will be passing along this info and see what they have to say about it. I saw a PCIE hardmod somewhere but I cannot find it now

Latest Beta I always run, but it really depends on the user and your hardware and needs. I would say try the latest Beta and if you do not like it then try older ones.

What do you mean about your first comment there?

I am not sure if all boards have issues with 222+ Blck, I have seen Eva2000 posting some 230+ Blck on DFI w/ a C0 CPU >>
                    I7 920 3836A756 #2 - DFI UT X58-T3EH8

                    224 Blck BioStar board >>

And I think I have seen a few others, but I am not sure if these are done with hardware mods or not, and I cannot remember what other boards I have seen 222+ on.

I do not think I have seen 222+ on a Gigabyte, if anyone knows it would be Hicookie at XS. I am not sure if this is due to the boards or BIOS's. I will ask Colin what he knows about this next week when he gets back into the office.

Can you do 222 Blck? Do you see 103 PCIE Freq in ET when you set it in the BIOS?

Na, you did not offend or hurt me with your comment, I just did not understand what you meant

Ya ET always shows 100 here as well! I can boot with 103 set at 200-222 without issues, but it always says 100.

Another thing I found today, after a S3 resume on my board and the UD5 the Turbo multi drops out from 21 back to 20 every time! I will be passing that along, at least they now have S3 working, just needs some fine tuning is all.

You can check your CPU multi after a S3 resume with this tool and see if yours drops back to 20 as well. Not sure what board you have, but let us know your findings. Link to tool is in this post by unclewebb here >>>

So after you resume from S3 your CPU multi still shows 21 in that tool I linked (i7 Turbo), NOT in Other programs?

Yes, with PCIE above 100+ you can clock further and it increases PCIE performance, but you can damage things and corrupt your hard drives as well so keep it under 105-110.

In p35/P45 you could boot no problem 101-110 and ET would show this, in X58 I can only boot with 103 and ET will still only show 100. Anything above 103 will not boot for me. I have not tested under 220 though when trying 100+ as that was why I was trying higher PCIE to get above 222 Blck
