Normal temperatures? (ex58-ud5)

Hi,

Everest (4.60.1500) shows me the following when idle
Motherbord 35 c (is this NB?)
CPU 56 c
CPU#1 45c
CPU#2 45c
CPU#3 43c
CPU#4 42c
Aux 39c (what is aux??)

when running Wprime (1024M) the temperatures are going up to
Motherbord 58 c
CPU 56 c
CPU#1 76c
CPU#2 76c
CPU#3 75c
CPU#4 75c
Aux 39c

This is just stockcooler, no overclocking....are these temperatures normal or do I need to worry?

They seem too high under load; http://download.intel.com/design/pro...hts/320834.pdf . What CPU are you using?

Everest could likely be reading it wrong, unless the HSF cooler isn't mounted correctly.

Try using Easy-Tune for checking, as the chipset is new and some utilities aren't up-to-date

using RealTemp 2.70 gives me a much better picture

Real temp has been updated in it's Beta versions with the newer TjMax info, plus i7 wasn't about when version 2.70 was released.
You need to find the Beta on the support forums for realtemp. I think it's version 2.84 or higher now.

As per my last post, does Easy Tune 6 not support temperature monitoring? If it does (and i haven't checked) then that will be the most accurate way of checking seeing as the board is so new.

you may need to reinstall the CPU, coz the temp you've got is wired....

the default temp is not that high.....

What do you mean by 'wired'? How will getting the cpu out and putting it back in again help?

I have a bloody expensive Antec p182 case which is supposed to keep a system cool....what should be the average idle temp of the icore7 720?
(no overclocking, stock cooler).

It seems that my temperatures are just as they should be.... :-)
low 40's when idle
mid 70's full load

I probably will buy a thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme to get the temps lower when mildy overclocking to 3.2/3.4 Ghz... my case is big enough!

Interesting.....

I couldn't see what they measured the temperatures with though and most of what they've written (HardOCP quick review) makes the Intel Technical Information look like it's for another CPU series alltogether.

sorry, actually i mean to reinstall the heatsink, or carefully remove and reapply the grease for heatsink.....

put everything default, orignal heatsink, no overclock, the temp shall not over 40c suppose the room is 20c...

- What should be the idle temperature of an Icore7 920?

they have the same temps with an Asus MB and stockcooler and - I guess- that isn't even in a closed environment. I have those temps when my Antec case is closed....
At this moment I don't think I will fool around with my CPU...probably I will replace the stockcooler with the thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme.

That is a good cooler choice. Idle temps for a 920 vary depending on Ambient temp and case airflow so you can't really compare accurately to anything you see out there. Just as long as you are not too hot then you should be fine

The HardOCP micro article with link to Kyle Benett doing his thing, didn't say what they used to monitor the temperatures with. I think too, that they said Intel had given some feedback, where there was headroom when using the stock cooler - although the info was a bit vague imo.

Also if you look at the i7 9xx series cpu technical data sheet as I provided a link to further up the thread, it indicates TDP (max) at 130watts = 68C
