I made some mod for somebody.... (and BIOS from Rev.2.0),so I fill,I can share with you.
At present time:
Rev.1.0 - U1a - 05/09/2012
Rev.2.0 -Ua9 - 03/06/2013
Because most if not all the betas for that board are notorious for all kinds of problems.
Also, people might not like to use unfinished BIOSes which are not guaranteed to work.
Can you simply ask the people responsible if they EVER will release another stable version?
I will definitely not buy another Gigabyte board if this continues the same way, because I don't want my future hardware to receive the same "treatment".
I meant our UD-Boards and Assassin are not sold/made anymore. Except for the UD3. Hence the UD3 getting beta biosses more frequently.
Compared to the X58A-UD7 that I had before the X79-UD5, the X79 platform had a LOT more really stupid problems. LAN Performance, optical drives not found by Windows unless you use the Marvell driver, bluescreens with IRSTe enabled (That I had to fix myself together with virtualfred! Microcode updates!)...ignorant support people. BIOS issues over and over again. CPU-Z's hardware detection engine rebooting the system when detecting the SPD of my memory modules. Come on, that should not plain reboot the system!
Don't get me wrong I like my board NOW but it took almost 18 months to get there and that's not what I want to spend 249 Eur on. :/
I have looked at what Gigabyte is doing about the BIOS options in Virtualfred's IME thread with regard to the UP5 board. It's pretty ridiculous in some spots. The UP5 uses the C606 chipset with SAS ports but offers no way of unlocking the serious professional SAS features as required by Microsoft.
It's really a mixed bag. ASUS started out more mature and reliable initially but now I also value the experience I made on this board and the ability to have another BIOS.
I'll have to see about Haswell-E when it's time
You fixed the BSODs from the IRSTe drivers!!!! Do tell, what did you do!
I have an EX58-UD7 sitting next to my desk and I'm ready to plug it back in and give up on mu X79-UD5. Ever since I "updated" to bios f13w the bios has been under-reporting my ram (60 gig as opposed to the 64 installed.) I didn't have this issue with 13p. (For anyone curious, the details are here, http://forums.tweaktown.com/g-skill/...yte-board.html Matt from G-Skill was a very helpful, unlike the responses I'm getting from Gigabyte.)
Ever since I went back to 13p I've had nothing but BSODs on my Win 7 64 bit running on a SSD and massive drive corruption on my hackintosh drive. Strangely, my Win 7 install on a standard drive is still fine. I tried Virtual Fred's modded 13z, same problem with the ram.

I feel exactly the same way... of course, I had the heatsink drop off of a Windforce card during that period of time... for additionally insult!
Really, if it hadn't been for all of the community support (Satsio and Virtualfred)... I really did play on making a YouTube video of an Assassin2 motherboard "running on BIOS xyz" and exploding on a firing range. The things was THAT bad initially.
I do have the Ivy-Bridge E and it's a bit of a performace gain overall, but not enough that I think folks should run out and get it

I have some questions about the bios:
1) I have a dual bios motherboard: Z77X-UD3H. Is one of the bios toggle positions write protected?
2) I also own a 7970 OC made by gigabyte and I flashed the bios from the write protected secondary position to the primary to revert my bios to its original older bios edition, now bios updating is no longer possible. I have tested this with force flash from ATI flash and from using VGA@Bios. However, the F72 bios seems to work well with this card since its the stock bios. Since having BSOD 116 codes with my new Samsung Green 30nm rams, I am running optimized defaults currently with the Hyper X and bios F18. I don't overclock my GPU (not worth killing it in the long term, the GPU also doesn't overclock well anyway when I tried with CCC. All Voltages are locked anyway. When I first got the card, I could reach 1140 at 1.17 core with uncertain stability and ram can't overclock at all beyond stock.). As I could not notice a huge difference at 1080p I don't overclock it at all! GPU temps stay at 70*C maximum, usually 60*C in game.
3) All of these questions I ask because I am trouble shooting a BSOD116 that may be related to running Samsung Green 30nm memory in 4x4, stock or Oc'd. It will BSOD, usually at idle, sometimes with load but will pass 15 hours of p95 at max ram and IBT max for 20 loops, aida stress test 12 hours, intel xtu memory and cpu stressors etc. I have tried the following:
Try F20c bios.
Try F20c beta bios.
Revert back to f18 bios.
Try stock ram.
Try very soft timings and speed
Try very aggressive timings and speed
Try stock processor
Stock clock memory
Overclock memory with stock voltage
Raise Dram Volt to a variety of settings
Raise IO and TX dram voltages slightly
Raise VTT and IMC voltages to 1.0 and .095, 1.1 and 1.095 and 1.2 and 1.195. Respectively.
Disable all power saving functions C states EIST etc.
Test with other ram modules like the Hyper X or Patriot that all pass memtest as well. When I buy ram I run memtest on it for atleast 12 to 24 hours.
Tried 3d power control menu with LLC on ram and vcore (I dislike LLC normally, I prefer using offset for voltage control, this was for desperation).
Delete/disable the pagefile.
Restore the pagefile.
Change the pagefile size.
VGA @Bios to F72 from Gigabyte's VGA bios updater.
Reformat computer.
I own 7 sticks of this ram so I have tested them all and the board hates every one. No problems in other computers I own.
System can pass stability tests fine and ram all memtests 24 hours. All the DIMMS show no physical damage (they are very delicate). The board is very cold: Cold room. Case ambient is around 25*C and CPU runs at 28*C idle, 60*C p95 max load stock with a Phanteks dual 120mm tower.
Presently I reformatted the computer, reverted to stock clocks and still got this error so its probably not a pagefile error. Something in my board just is not compatible with this ram.
Usually the BSOD will occur when the computer is idle.
Another question: Since reformat my motherboard is displaying 03 code from wake state instead of staying A0. Is this normal? By wake state I mean screen times off. Everything is set to high performance besides monitor time out at 20 minutes, minimum processor state of 20% and USB functions.

Neither bios is write protected.
Displaying 03 after resuming from sleep is normal...is that what you meant?

I tested this version, the big problem for me ,is in strating i can't go in my bios, is frozen but if i start normaly. all usb or sata work normaly in windows. I hope the F8 to stabilize, corrected my problem with usb on MB start and the hdd led too.
Does anyone know witch bios for the X79-UD7 has the least Vdroop? The F12f and F12e has about 0,04v vdroop.
So if i had 1,354V idle, it goes down to 1,308V, since this is the numbers Cpu-Z shows. Might have to go back to F11 something. Think it had a little better vdroop controll..

Also another question about this board (GA-Z77X-UD3H):
The slots 3 and 4 yield higher dual channel performance than the slots 1 and 2 which are recommended for 2 stick operation. Should I use 3 and 4 therefore? I benchmark slightly higher with these on every benchmark, on average, over a series of 10 runs so it is there. I am now attempting to overclock the HyperX black, at 1.6v I am at 2200 MHz 11-11-11-33 1t. Not sure best way to stability test, got about 4 loops into IBT max and fail but I've had things fail IBT max that pass other stuff etc. Gonna run prime overnight 12 hours at 15500 MB I guess.
The latest beta for z87x-ud3h (f8h) is good, coming from F7. I used to have some problems with F7 like I can't enter bios and sometimes inside windows my usb devices 'restart' (like getting replugged). These are not happening with latest beta. Also now I have hd res in bios :P Thanks stasio!
edit: Actually the bios problem still happens.. sometimes I can't enter bios with my G15 keyboard.. the keyboard doesn't even respond to stuff like 'caps lock' until I enter windows. It really pisses me off.
edit2: Another problem I have, Sleep (not hybrid sleep) is not working on my machine, the display goes black and I can't do anything after that, except pressing the 'restart' button on my case to reboot. I even tried to 'sleep' without my mouse/keyboard plugged in, I set a tool to sleep after 1 minute and I unplugged many devices. Same problem.
edit3: I was able to make it sleep, but it's kinda a hit & miss thing on this board. Sometimes on wake-up I have to wait 30 seconds until I get a signal to the monitor. Sometimes it works just fine. Sometimes I get stuck and I have to reboot.
