Re: Gigabyte Latest BIOS
X58A is just an update to the board with SATA 3 and USB 3. (Extreme and UD7 is the same)
If you want to overclock your i7 920 more than 4Ghz, then you'll likely need water, so you should prob. spend most of your money there if you plan to achieve the max overclock.

Re: Gigabyte Latest BIOS
Hi Nhawk and thanks for answering my question. This forum is so helpful and knowledgeable. Yes, I will be going for watercooling. So now do I get GA-X58A-UD5 or GA-X58A-UD7 as they both have the new usb 3 and sata 3. They both seems to have the same thing. Which one of those would be the better of the two. Thanks again for all your help.

Re: Gigabyte Latest BIOS
I am attempted to Q-flash the most current FD Bios. I downloaded the file then used windows to extract the p45ud3p2.fd file by just double clicking it, and then copied to a floppy. I set floppy in new system as first boot, powered up unit and went to Q-Flash window. There I selected "Update BIOS From Drive", then selected the "p45ud3p2.fd" file shown and hit enter. After about 5 minutes the progress dots completed and the following message appeared. "Invalid BIOS Image". I suspected there may be a problem in my file extraction method of using windows to extract the bios, so I downloaded WinRAR 3.71 and extracted files with WinRAR, copied to floppy and repeated the Q-Flash bios upgrade, but same results, "Invalid BIOS Image"! Do these methods look correct?
EDIT: Problem solved thanks to Chike & Morph. I gave up on floppy procedure and used USB successfully.

Maybe you'd have better luck with a USB Flash drive.
Also do not use any OC settings while flashing.
