Re: Gigabyte Latest BIOS
For your UD3R the file you are downloading in the picture (F11) is the correct one. It is the label "EP45-UD3P" that is incorrect. It does point to the most recent EP45-UD3R.Coolermaster CM 690 II advance Case

Re: Gigabyte Latest BIOS
It's difficult to say. The same kind of tweaks to try and get S3 going, like setting as many BIOS options off auto as possible, adding a little more ICH Core and ICH I/O voltage (can help if USB is the source of resume problems) etc.
As with S3, it can be a hit and miss thing. I was fortunate in that Hibernate just worked for me regardless of settings. I'd rather have S3 though, as I have an 80GB SSD and 4 GB of space is 5% of the entire drive. It'll be even worse when I get my OCZ Vertex as I could only afford a 30GB model. That may be the deciding factor when choosing which one will be the boot drive.
Do you get any entries in Windows error logs etc with regards to the sleep or hibernate failure? Even if nothing is writing to the log after the PC sleeps/hibernates it may have encountered errors before going into the triggered state.Coolermaster CM 690 II advance Case

However, I know that my board, if not shut down properly, e.g. after power outage or if I force shutdown by pressing the power button for more than few seconds the motherboard will boot loop when powered up.
Does hibernation complete successfully?

hibernate basically takes everything in your ram and writes it in a one large, easy to read file on the harddrive. Then it shuts down your pc. When you turn on your pc, it loads significantly faster because
1) all the data is in the same place on the HD
2) windows doesn't have to go though the full bootup sequence
there is no reason hibernate should not work for anyone, barring massively obvious hard drive issues and the less obvious not going into cmd run and enabling it.Last edited by Sunburn74; 11-14-2009, 08:51 PM.

In any case, with 8gb, hibernate is also almost completely useless because I can shut down the box completely and restart it back to windows faster than It takes to just hibernate. What I really need is a working S3 sleep. HELLO GIGABYTE this is so ridiculous that we don't have this feature yet.

Re: Gigabyte Latest BIOS
yeah windows 7 just shuts off the screen while hibernating, its quite neat on notebooks, probably not so much for desktops

I have 8gb ram and I guess it was just taking a long time to save the `hiberfil.sys` to the C:\ drive. In previous windows versions (at least XP, not sure I ever used hibernate in Vista so i dont remember) there was a progress bar that said "Preparing to hibernate..." and you could see the progress. In Win7, my screens go black immediately and so I have no idea what's going on. I assumed the box had crashed because it really takes about 45-60 seconds from when I push hibernate to when the box powers down.
