  • Adding a DVD ROM and a DVD +/-RW

    Hello TweakTown Forum members,

I'm just about to add a Pioneer DVR-106 (burner) alongside my Pioneer DVD-115 (DVD ROM) onto the Secondary IDE channel.

Could somebody recommend to me which should be the Master ??

    Many thanks.

I like to use Burner by its own. not share with other device.

I agree, burning devices should have their own ide channel.

Funny thing though I learned this on tweaktown by Wiggo but I've never had any probs sharing ide channels in the past. I guess it's mutch about luck and what type of burning device one use. :)

            a little note...

Whenever I put a burner on master, the autoclose on the other drive usually does not work. But thats a cd burner.

            another note...

DVD's that are made on the burner wont work on any dvd rom drive (tried many), only dvd burners with the correct format (+/-) , or home dvd players can read it, so basically making the dvd rom and cd burner useless.

With a DVD burner, I've had much better luck with it on a separate IDE channel. You can buy a PCI IDE controller for next to nothing, which will give you two more IDE channels to play with. I've got two harddrives, a CD burner and a DVD burner, all on their own, haven't had any problems at all since I went this route
