    Re: McAfee SiteAdvisor

Bravo! Why take the time to build a nice fast computer, then put something like that on it bog it down? It's been my experience that Norton's is even worse...

  • Re: IDE drive not reconised

If i tried two different drives and couldn't see either, then I begin to suspect the cable.
As mentioned earlier, have you tried the drive in another computer?...

    Re: Anybody ever try Vonage?

Had it for over a year now, good stuff. Since then, I've noticed that there are other VOIP deals out there even cheaper than Vonage, but I haven't really checked into them.
I hear that Vonage customer support is a real pain, but I've never had to use...

    Re: ATA support needed

The cheapest and quicker way would be to buy an addon card, plug it in, plug your ATA devices in, boot up.
I've been using one for years on the computer I use for video edits, haven't had any problems yet

    Re: Backup Appliance

I agree with Darth, you can google or search on a computer site for Network Attached Storage and more than likely find what you're looking for. NAS would work very well, if you don't have too many employees, but if you have more than five or six users on your network,...

  • Re: Can a DVD+R disk be converted to a DVD-R disk?

Your DVD burner supports both (-) and (+) DVDs. So, all you have to do is rip your DVD+R movie to your computer then burn it to a DVD-R blank. The (-) and (+) refers to two different format types of DVDs

    Re: Microphone Problem

Make sure that your sound card is working properly for everything else. If not, go to Control Panel, System, Hardware, then Device Manager and make sure that your computer is recognizing it and that it is working properly.

If you don't have a volume...

    Re: Microphone Problem

Basic question, but have you gone into "volume control", "options" then checked the "recording" radio button, then made your choices?

    Re: Recommendations on capture card

I go with Darthtanion, two cards work best for me and I'd much rather have a PCI version than a USB input.
It's also better if you have two harddrives, one to capture to and one to render to. May not amount to much, but I like to have them on...

    Re: re-appearing icons

Sounds like you've been pegged. Are you running an antivirus program and are you beind a firewall? If so, are they upated?

For a start, I'd download SpyBot, install it and run it, see if that takes care of the problem. If that fails, get HiJack...
