  • Overclocking Geoforce 2 mx400

I have downloaded coolbit and able to adjust the clock frequencies to 220 and 349 with system stability. going much higher seems to create an unhappy video card. Does anyone have any further suggestions on overclocking this card ( ie programs or settings)? This seems to be a minimal jump in the stock settings, I was expecting to be able to make a bigger jump.

Thanks for your input and help. Harlen

Those cards don't have a fan on the heatsink...so I don't recommend heating it up much...

    At least mine didn't.

That and the fact that you won't really get much more performance out of it...

From what I have seen over the years, those cards used to have active cooling until they became old budget cards. The budget cards of now usually have passive cooling. Same thing with radeon 7xxx/ve series. All the ones that I see for sale now just have passive. But whenever I see one of either in an older machine, it usually has a stock fan. All the gf2 and 7xxx cards that I have had came with fans.

Before my motherboard blew on my AMD I had been able to get quite a big increase on the memory and core. Annoyingly I can't remember the exact numbers but it was good. Mine had active cooling. I think it is a ultra. Anyway I was getting just 6000 marks in the 3D mark 01se

damn that sucks... i have a GeForce 2 MX/MX400 and its stock speeds are 200/143. and i've managed to o/c to 212/178 perfectly stable. now why is ther such a big difference in my core/mem speeds to harlen-p's core/mem speeds?
I use rivatuner... you might wanna give it a try. i found i gotta a better o/c from it

It depends on the brand and the vintage. Stock clock speeds can vary. And the mem with ddr is calculated at x2 and displayed that way. Unlike ati mem speeds, that are shown in 1x and the "double" is left up to the user to calculate.
