Yeh I always wear a strap. I had tried all those things prior to posting. However it turns out that it was more than likely a bad boot file or something. I wiped the hard drive using my handy dos disks and its all back up and working.

Possible Hard drive failure
Hi guys,
Long time since I've been here, have to change that. I installed some new memory in my AMD machine, some Geil PC3200 just to give it alittle extra boost.
Anyway the PC booted fine and I notice that the FSB was 133 so I thought I would nudge that up nearer 200. I got...

Ok so I had a look in the bios. Not a awful lot there really. Silly Dell. Anyway The bios is still saying that the cd rom is not installed. If I swap over the HD and the CD Rom and try them in different IDE ports the bios reports that the HD is not installed as well as the CD :?:

Just to tack something onto the back of this. Seeing as you can't overclock your existing system your best of looking into how you can improve you current systems performance. The obvious is to crack open the old wallet. However, you should find out about freeing up the current resources you have. ...

I'll check when I get home from work. Off the top of my head though I think when I plugged the hard drive into the same ide port it was recognised. I'll let you know how I get on.

No Cd Rom Drive
hi guys,
I have been given one of those dell dimension 8200 things. I have the intention of using to do my XP exam and play around with integrity server. The previous owner obviously gutted all the bits he needed.
I have bought a fresh new hard drive and cd rom drive....

Yeah you might notice a little extra poke. 200 mhz increase is nothing to be scoffed at.
As Fatguy said with overclocking comes greater temps. Replacing the cooler is advisable. However, looking on the forum Wiggo has used is stock cooler to overclock his 2.4 c up to 3.2 :?: I forget...
