    what heatsink do you have?
how good is your case cooling?
how hot is the room the pc is in?

    what are your system specs?

the room i'm in is pretty much room temperature (20-22 degrees) and that's the temp i reallly want my computer to be at, cuz it seems to run well at around 24 degrees (have it open right now w/ a fan blowing at it)

i have no clue what the heat sink is

and the case is just a standard case, nothin special, so the cooling is adequate

getting your comp that cool will be hard without expensive measures.

do the temps run better when you have the door off?
if they do then case cooling is part of your problem. How many case fans do you have and in what direction are they blowing in

if you dont what what kind of hsf you have, then it is probably stock...upgrading that will also be benifical along with some artic silver 3 to replace that crappy goop I'm sure you have on there now.

Is your cpu overclocked? and what kind of cpu do you have?

how do tou have your cables routed? they could be blocking airflow.

do you have a pic of your PC's interior?

at what temps is your cpu/case running at idle/max

do the temps run better when you have the door off?
          yup, about 5 degrees less

which way to the fans blow?
1 in and 1 out and the heatsink

Is your cpu overclocked? and what kind of cpu do you have?
          not overclocked and it's a p4 2ghz 478pin mobo

how do you have your cables routed?
i dunno, i tied them up this morning, check the pick and give me your opinion

at what temps is your cpu/case running at idle/max
w/ door on - 30 degrees idle and 40 max
w/door off and fan blowing on it - 23 idle and 28, 29 max

I see an empty space for a case fan at the front of that case, infront of the drives.

man, those temps are great...you problem lies elsewhere

but some rounded cables would help your airflow, as well as using up your case fan mounts...but that would also increase noise

              that's an unusal looking hsf

i'm sure it's the temps cuz it locks-ups when it's closed and around those 32 degree temps, but say if i cool it down to 25 degrees using a fan, and then close it up, it runs smoothly w/o lockups soooo... i dunno

                thnx so far guys

Okies ya temps ain't bad at all but ya case airflow is a prob though. Ya said that ya had "1 in and 1 out" but there's no front fan that I can see plus the back exhaust is right, doesn't that case have a top blowhole as well and I certainly hope that it's suckin' the air out and not tryin' to blow it in there.

trust us, your temps is not the problem...mine are always around 40 degrees C and i don't have any problems...it's not your temps causing the problem

The problem most likely is a driver issue. I agree with everyone else, your temps are great. Mine run 33c idle and 42c under load running SETI. Is that a G4 Ti4000 series card? If it is you should add some memory heatsinks on it to help cool it. Have you tried differents drivers for your vid card? sound card? Have you done any other driver updates? Is this a new problem or has your system always done this? What are the specs of your PC?

looks a lot like my Asus ti 4600 card...minus the heat sinks..hhmmmmm I would say bow some damn air thru that thing!@!!!!! install acouple of decent fans and a GOOD after market HSF on the CPU and then see what happens...and your temps ( like everyone else is saying ) are good...my cpu runs a lot hotter than that at times and doesnt lock.

lol, I guess you can tell I'm an amd fan:thumb:

I havn't seen an intel chip since the pIII:cheers:

but i do think it looks kinda odd, at least from that angle

ok so far as people have guessed --> it is intel, and it is a ti4600

i have tried different drivers, and it's about a 4month old problem, i never got around to finding out what it was until last week cuz i had too much school crap to do.

and to the question as whether or not it has a top fan, there's nothing at the top of the case, but i do feel air coming out from where the power box is...

and someone asked for specs so:
                            p4 2 gig
                            512 rimm
                            ti 4600
                            2 maxtor 60 gigs 7200rpm
                            audigy gamer
                            intel d850mv mb
                            dx9
                            win2k

i'm gonna head off to my local computer store this afternoon, and probably pick up some fans, so if anyone's willing, can you point out the best places for me to put fans, and how many?

btw guys, thnx for the huge amount of replys overnight

place fans in the circled areas, there may be some other areas that i can't see
