  • Replacement fan for my cpu

I'm looking for a new fan to replace the one that came with my CPU. That one has become balky, refusing to start without a little shove from my finger. I plan to do a little checking to make sure it's the fan and not the mobo doing that, but I suspect the fan.

The problem I see is that my board has very little space for the cpu cooler. I have Corsair Dominator ram which is very close on one side and sticks up quite high, the power supply on another side very close to the cpu, a case exhaust fan on the other side and the northbridge heat sink on the other.

I'm looking at the Cooler Master TX3 mostly because it looks like it will fit in that confined space. Most of the bigger, more exotic coolers I see just don't look like they will fit.

I'd like to hear from others with experience fitting a fan to this mobo.

What type of computer case do you have? Do you know the case model or part number?

        Bump.
I put this in the cooling forum, trying to be a good citizen but it appears that means nobody will look at it.

        Or nobody has an opinion?

Re: Replacement fan for my cpu

Neither one really looks like it will fit in my system.
The dimensions listed on the Raidmax spec sheet are incorrect.

The case is only 185mm deep, not the 205 listed on their spec page. Both coolers are 160mm tall. The reviews don't say what the reference is for that dimension, but I assume it is from the base of the heatsink. That MAY fit, but it's very close. Its only 160 mm (maybe 161) from the surface of the mobo to the opposite wall of the case. It appears to me that Intel's spec calls for 10mm from the surface of the mobo to the bottom of the heatsink so a 160mm height will be 170mm above the mobo. Unless the cooler reviews are measuring from the mobo surface as opposed to the top of the cpu, a 160mm high cooler won't fit in this case.

Has a decent performance, not the best. At least its small enough to fit in your case.
